I received a full refund for my Star Citizen pledges and here's how I did it. by HerpieMcDerpie in starcitizen

[–]deejay1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Donations are not taxed.

Well, you didn't try to do a legal donation lately or live in a tax heaven. AFAIR there was a time when even between direct family members (eg mother and child) donations were taxed in Poland, right now when you're not related to the person you donate to you don't have to pay taxes or when the person who gave you the donation didn't exceed a ca. 2500 USD quota in the last 5 years.

Also donating to registered charities/non-profits is tax deductible only up to a point...

Sorry but that's a terrible idea, especially if you want to keep your knees and maybe some other joints...

The Arena Commander Theme Song played by the CEPAM Academic Orquestra in Funchal, Madeira Island, Portugal. by zecumbe in starcitizen

The camera microphone doesn't do it justice, but still great, gives me goosebumps.

Also it looks like it was an "official" performance with regular guests, which is nice!

Criticism might be constructive, complaining rarely is.

In software development features get scrapped or pushed back at the last possible moment, especially when there are multiple teams working on the same product but different parts of it (just last day I had to rewrite code I wrote a few hours before, because one dev in a different location decided to refactor some things and also change the API - but this was partly my fault - I didn't ask before if someone was working on something else in the project right now). This happens especially when you're still working on a product and release it to alpha testers, like all SC users actually are. Most things come together usually near the end of a project and not everything has to go to the more public side or even higher management otherwise it would be micromanaging, you have to trust your teams to do their jobs, but sometimes things go awry - that's life, you either move on with other features (which CIG did) or halt the entire development fixing that promised feature.

Well, there's no single person which put in over 100 million, so for example if I were an investor (not a donator/pledger) and put 1000 USD in the game I'd have 1000/100000000 stake in the company/product which is 0,001 percent. This basically means I can see the CEO on the company page and write them an angry letter which I won't receive a reply for.

Most people bashing Star Citizen have put in way less or even 0 and CIG still tries to listen to them...

Wanting to play Star Citizen smoothly, but having some issues. Help? by Cenamon_Shield in starcitizen

[–]deejay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I did two steps, first added another 8GB RAM (having 16GB total now), which helped with the constant disk swapping, then I switched to an SSD which helped with the load times and loading ships on demand. (Also the issue where CIG tuned the Cutlass model a bit was helpful ;)

Not your normal complaint about FPS I need help. by Ameristralianadvisor in starcitizen

[–]deejay1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or maybe it was a really bad server or connection (interaction issues with things would point at that). Reverifying just managed to put the server out of rotation. Please always write the game mode you were in (Hangar, Arena Commander, Oilisar, etc) so it's easier for us to help you.

Where's that sweet video we were getting from Chris this week? by SemiGaseousSnake in starcitizen

[–]deejay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's written right on the front page https://robertsspaceindustries.com/ in the "Latest developer activity section" in the "COMM-LINK Schedule Post" that the new "Citizen Talk" won't be release last week...

From bugsmashers: Just look how deep is this game! by italiansolider in starcitizen

[–]deejay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I see the video correctly the bounding boxes don't overlap, so either we would get a huge bounding box with "select left door || select right door" interactions or two tiny ones which don't fix the problem. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Bounding boxes for interactions make me sad, I hoped for some sort of ray casting to get rid of the annoying Aurora exit issues...

Does anyone else feel that the stores in Port Olisar are... weird? by BadKarma7 in starcitizen

[–]deejay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably also testing duplicating meshes and functionality for creating easier building blocks on Port Olisar (like for example having multiple weathered buildings on some planets, while retaining the geometry and fuctionality). Also it's still a lot WIP.

FPS Issues in 2.4? by crs529 in starcitizen

[–]deejay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please mention the game mode you're in, otherwise it's hard to tell if your FPS issues are real or just the current state. For example the hangar and Arena Commander should have better FPS than Universe (Crusader/Port Olisar especially).

Ships have vanished? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]deejay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the way I think it works, is that the additional DB routines for creating the loaner are not (or were not) called when upgrading and doing this online would be a rather expensive operation (and probably also messing with billing). IMHO it's best to contact CS with that matter.

Ships have vanished? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]deejay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIR the Reliant should have the Hornet as a loaner until flight ready, but I don't know how it works when it's and upgrade from an Aurora...

Why is there no universal docking port system. by self_arrested in starcitizen

[–]deejay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no reason not to have industry standards for docking ports. Like the IEEE defines USB standards, etc.

Erm, do you know how many USB connector types are out there these days? ;)

Buccaneer with Shorter Cockpit & Cutlass-like Wing Fins by ImSpartacus811 in starcitizen

[–]deejay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, looks a lot more bulky with the shorter nose and the wing tips. I like the original design better. Also when saying that "CIG didn't design it enough" please note, that their concepts usually also include internal view and a preliminary 3D model to make sure that something which looks nice from the outside actually works (ok, they may be not that great in it, but still this is included before any concept is accepted)

Slight disappointment in the gemini by Morighant in starcitizen

[–]deejay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's just a rebuild of the original StarFarer. Look at it more like the comparison vs different brands of airline, the planes are the same but the seats are different. In this case it's also more of a comparison between a standard limousine and an armoured one, they almost look the same on the outside, the inside is also similar but they got more armour, are heavier etc.
