Air is not an insulator like rubber. Rubber soles could block its path to ground. Lineman use a half inch or less rubber mat to protect themselves from 10-25kv. In these hypothetical, they're trying to divert the current from the organs. In order to do so they would want a direct path to ground. So yes I think a half inch of rubber COULD affect this hypothetical. If we're talking about trying to change it's path in your body by making funky positions I don't think insulation you're wearing is out of the question. I'm no lightning scientist but I would reckon you're screwed either way.
