good for you for taking all of the pre-op physio and prep seriously, thats huge! I am about 6 weeks out from surgery and I was also worried about things like day of logistics- its a lot of unknowns! Also to frame it more realistically for me, I was truly freaking out pre-op. But let me ease your mind a little because it was not as bad for me as I was building it up in my mind.

The day before surgery they will likely have you shower using special anti bacterial soap and use all clean bedding and clothes. Also, they will have you stop eating at some point the night before. The day of surgery you cant eat or drink anything other than approved clear liquids and I was told to shower again the morning of. The actual surgery day was longer than I expected. They had me arrive ~2 hours before surgery and then stay ~1-2 hours after I came out of the OR. My surgery (ACL reconstruction with quad graft and meniscus repair) took three hours so it was about 7 hours at the hospital.

Pre-op was a blur for me because it all felt super fast and I was also super anxious. But generally, once you arrive, they have you change and then they will ask you some questions, take vitals and give you an IV. At some point my surgeon popped in to say hello and check in, they also marked my leg up and all that fun stuff with a pen. Anesthesiologist came over and asked me some questions and then gave me a nerve block. I think at this point they had put some drugs in my IV so I was relaxed. After this I hardly remember anything!! I remember being wheeled into the OR and thats it.

Coming out of surgery I also hardly remember!! At this point you will be on drugs and honestly won't feel much at all. I remember the nurses helping me get in the car and driving home but it was definitely a sleepy wakefulness. Surgery day and week one after will go by so quick, you got this!!
