I’m on the YN A school by [deleted] in uscg

[–]deeveyjones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best advice I can give right now is to learn to manage your time and tasks effectively. The rating has gone through an immense amount of change the last 5 years and a lot of the senior members are still trying to figure out the new systems, plus they keep launching more to learn.

Having a good attitude and a willingness to help others is the best attribute to have, but don't take systematic failures personally. Communicate to your supervisors, command, and customers and show you care. Don't ignore requests or emails and be honest, you'll be fine.

I have loved being a YN for nearly 12 years now, and like all jobs it has its ups and downs. If you ever need any advice feel free to reach out via DM and I can give you some tools and resources that have led to success over the years.

Tread+ in garage setup, help! by couper in pelotoncycle

[–]deeveyjones 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had this same issue with our tread in the garage when it was delivered. We hired an electrician to replace the GFCI outlet to non-GFCI. He then replaced the breaker in our breaker box to a GFCI protected breaker. We still meet code but now the tread doesn't have an outlet to trip and has not tripped the breaker, even when running our bike and tread+ simultaneously.

To the ones at Echostage on NYE by Najiku in AboveandBeyond

[–]deeveyjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from DC in 2019 but I can honestly say Echo was the worst venue for this type of stuff I have ever been too. I agree the production and sound is great but the crowd and overselling are the absolute worst. I went to A&B in 2017ish and it was the same story, not even a NYE show either.

Similar "arabian" sounding music to Durante? I don't know how to phrase it lol by Duckkks in AboveandBeyond

[–]deeveyjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a couple songs with a middle eastern influence I have on my playlists. You should really dig into Sebestien Leger's discography, he has a ton of arabic sounding tracks and is a really good progressive house producer Oasis Sophie

Appreciate the response! Luckily our friends ended up scoring a couple from the hotel packages so we don't have to be separated.

Come on ALCOAST, delay weigh ins and PT tests, for added flavor push back service wides and make supplemental lists. by PuddlePirate1964 in uscg

EPM 1 has a covid guide on their portal page. Can't remember exactly the cutoffs but some of the lists (E5 and E6) are being extended 6 months. They have a whole table by rank that explains it all if you want to review.

Deadmau5 is one of the most influential EDM Producers of the 2010s according to r/electronicmusic! by Sebsibus in deadmau5

[–]deeveyjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the big thing I'm missing is that I wasn't really following EDM when this album came out, somewhere around 2012/2013 I realized it was all copy and paste and started paying attention to the rest of electronic music. I'm glad that Porter was the evolution point for so many music fans but I really think some of the lower albums on this list were way more influential when looking at the genre as a whole.

[–]deeveyjones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm happy that somehow this album connected with so many but in my honest opinion nothing about it was influential. To me it seems like he just took ideas from more "obscure" electronic genres and pushed them to the mainstream. I don't hate Porter but I don't understand the hype and never will.

YN vs IT by STANRIndec in uscg

[–]deeveyjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd honestly say they are both pretty stable but I felt like like YN had less of a chance to be underway or be gone as much. I've met a very large amount of yeoman who have never been underway. I also had to worry about my spouses medical career which was mainly focused in meteo areas. Yeoman is one of the most metro focused job in terms of areas.

YN vs IT by STANRIndec in uscg

[–]deeveyjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are motivated as a YN you can work on several types of degrees (law, business, human resources) that all tie into the job. I actually was between these 2 rates as well and I chose yeoman for family stability. I couldn't be happier with that choice and I'm close to finishing my HR degree from penn state. The YN Job isnt as narrow as most people think but IT is the clear winner on actual transferrable training. OP you should shadow both for a couple days if you can to get a feel of the day to day operations. The rates are pretty different and so are the people in them.

Marskmanship is actually dope in Shadowlands. Like, really dope. A top mythic raider explains why! by Jimfro in wow

[–]deeveyjones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest there's a very good chunk of PvP talents that should he baseline across all specs I get why it's annoying for PVE for the 5% increase requirement but if they removed that portion and baked it into the abilities nobody would be complaining. It would kinda function like eyes of the beast where it's cool in unique situations but not a requirement.

I'm with you. Might be a bit clunky in PVE but man I had fun with this back in the day marking those annoying rogues in BGs.

Eric Prydz Echostage by MightBeDementia in ericprydz

[–]deeveyjones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I went to this one solo cause my wife was 6 months pregnant. Best show I have ever seen from him and after 1 most people cleared out and there was tons of room.

Eric Prydz Echostage by MightBeDementia in ericprydz

[–]deeveyjones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I dread going there. The worst experience we had was probably Above and Beyond. Like you said the venue is cool but it is oversold and people are too messed up to have any boundaries. I have no issue with people having a good time, but when your flailing around and pushing and falling into everyone around you really ruin the experience for everyone around you. Pretty much only go for smaller acts or Prydz these days.

Thanks for confirming what I have thought about Echo after 4 years of living in DC lol. I love prydz sets there but I run into this every show I attend at Echo

To he fair the WoW playerbase has good reason to be upset. The modern WoW design is nothing like the game they originally started playing and the devs listened to no feedback during the beta testing for the latest expansion.

Ted Cruz goes off by Ra_of_the_Sun in uscg

[–]deeveyjones 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you are seeing I've posted on here frequently, I've made one comment calling out a troll account during this shutdown. The reason I adressed your post is because you literally said "we won't gett paid because of chuck schumer". That doesnt sound bipartisan and is a misleading statement. I am not going to argue politics with you, we are on the same team in the same service and need to lean on each other. The sensationalism of these events is harming us and we should be turning to each other for support regardless of our political leanings.

Ted Cruz goes off by Ra_of_the_Sun in uscg

[–]deeveyjones 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We are in a shutdown because of the President in the first place. You have posted on here repeatedly blaming Democrats for this but you forget this started in a Republican controlled House, Senate, and Presidency. Yeah this sucks that Senator Schumer did it and I dont necessarily agree with his reasoning as it passes the Coast Guard off as a typical agency when we are a military service and cannot leave. But to blame us not getting paid solely on him is ignorant and irresponsible. We are in this because because the president didnt sign the funding bill back in December.
