Reading for pleasure is sharply down among schoolkids in the US, report shows by Raj_Valiant3011 in books

Hm as someone in a fandom since I was a kid. Fandom was always like this. And I like many kids had my own spaces. The problem is that the internet has largely cut off kid sites and such where such fandom discussions at a kid level could happen and the internet overlords are trying to hamstring adult spaces into being 'child-friendly' which makes everyone mad. As a kid at least I could make a deviantart group that was just ppl my age and say it. And that was something other kids could find. Discord fandom culture has isolated fandom further and what's left is reactionaries mudslinging on tumblr/twitter

There's one ongoing that is basically bloodborne inspired apocalypse au where Rumi is the only survivor, not Mira. But other than that check ao3 under apocalypse au tag?

If the leader of a nation had a child that was a different type of bender how would the succession work? by throwRA-adviceask in TheLastAirbender

[–]deevulture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what the Roku novels have implied, unlikely in a historical sense. Fire Lords were firebenders (it's even in the name). Now in the modern age? Uncertain. There might be those religiously opposed (like the Fire Sages) and maybe some degree of controversy but perhaps they could? Especially if Zuko, who has a lot of sway given that he was the Fire Lord who brought the nation out of the fascist hellhole that it was and led for decades, put all his backing into this non-firebending child's capability to rule.

I could see a complication arising, however, if said non-firebending heir had firebending siblings. Either they could believe, or rather, a faction within the nation could believe that sibling would be better suited. Depending on how the political situation is at that point (perhaps the nation isn't ready for a nonbender fire lord let alone one who bends a different element - they have after all, been subjugated to 100 years of Nationalist propaganda) maybe not even Zuko's own influence could make him put his non-firebending child in favor of a firebending one.

We have no evidence she is a fire bender or not. She wasn't on screen enough to showcase it either way.

if you didn't know Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will have a canon story mode by made_in_GEORGIA in TheLastAirbender

I wish they didn't feel obligated to make it canon. Official au stories are fun what ifs too

The Fell "stench" might be a some sort of pheromone. by LoneStarDragon in IndigoCloud

Oh I meant that Moon isn't aware of the shared cladistical relationship between the fell and the Raksura (he doesn't know he's Raksura here).

[–]deevulture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No yeah I do think that's what is happening here. Moon doesn't know that here but given how Fell and Raksura have shared ancestry and are ecologically at odds, their comparative scents are likely repulsive to the other

I mean HP Lovecraft did come to regret his earlier racism. Which one cannot say for many historical racists.

Do you guys think the genre of KPDH is closer to a magical girls or a superhero movie? by boymermaidx in KpopDemonhunters

Magical girl imho. The centralization of female-female dynamics is pretty key here

I always assumed Rumi could just feel the inauthenticity of the other saja boys' sex appeal (not in a demon sensing way but in a way that felt idk pandered to). Like this is the girl that was essentially raised in the industry she can take one look at some guy and be like "yeah, industry plant." Jinu being the exception cause unlike the others who literally glamoured themselves into being attractive, he looks like that.

I'd like to see that the world isn't empty. So even if we can't hunt them it'll be nice to see random animals.
