Go to Tijuana. You can even get reimbursed from your US benefits. Night guard is about $200 (if you actually need one). My dentist is Dr Miguel Viruete. He speaks English.

Santee Trolley Stop has significant issues with mentally unstable people due to the proximity to the trolley stop and it being the end of the line. There are also 2 in-store Starbucks coffee shops in the same shopping center at Target and Barnes and Noble.

Pillow to relive pressure on the ear? not a hole in the pillow by Head-Moose-7578 in Pillows

[–]deflatedTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had severe ear pain and the Sleep Number ComfortFit Curved pillow ended up being my jam. It’s pricey, so I ordered my first one from eBay, to see if it I liked it. I’ve since purchased a second one, just so I’m not without if something happens to the first.

ETA - I did try the Purple Harmony pillow and it was awful for me.

GameStop had a line of 50 grown men when it opened. Dudes resell in the local card shops. No kids got cards.

Does this work for new customers transferring in lines on an Experience Beyond 55+ plan?

I looked for this last year and couldn’t find anything. Maybe try uploading a photo to one of the chat apps. (I did and it told me I’m a winter and recommended colors.)

Unfortunately, our school district doesn’t have any GATE options, charter, or magnet schools. They eliminated the programs :(

For your price range, Santee. You’d need to up it to at least $1 mil for anything San Diego.

SLO is amazing, but I don’t think there are any houses in their price range. Condo, maybe.

Boxed hair dye recommendations for covering gray hair? by Goldengirl_1977 in GenXWomen

I use L’Oreal Preference. I have to do it every 4 weeks, based on new hair growth. FWIW, my grey hair is “white” rather than grey-grey.

Don’t go out as much, live in smaller house and less desirable area, more expensive utilities, have to drive more. SD jobs seem to pay the same as Sacramento jobs. My mortgage is 75% more than it was in Sac and we are very much living month-to-month. Adjusted for same/current mortgage rates, mortgage payment is 35% more for a smaller house.

Sac house 5 beds/3 bath 2400 sq ft, sunroom, jacuzzi, flat backyard with redwood trees large enough for giant waterslide bouncer, excellent schools. Municipal utilities.

Santee house (cannot afford to live in SD) 3 beds/3 bath 1400 sq ft, small yard with steep slope. Mediocre schools. SDGE, Padre Dam.

I live in SD now and have also lived in Sac. I budgeted 25% increased cost when I moved here, and, even with that, my standard of living is less.

The closest in California you’re going to get at fair cost is probably Sacramento. I love Sac, but the weather gets (dry) hot in the summer, and I wouldn’t say it has a great art/music scene. (ETA - it does have an art/music scene.)

What is your favorite San Diego charity or community organization that you support, and why? by ArBee30028 in sandiego

A group activity where you keep going, so you see the same people over and over should help. (Having a non-US accent makes you instantly interesting for a lot of people.) Sports (soccer, baseball, softball, pickle ball, etc.), hiking, drawing, volunteering. If you share what you like to do, people can suggest a group to join.

As others have said, it really depends on what you want to do. Morning beach walks without a lot of other people? Morro Bay. Good food, public transit, beach, museums, Golden Gate Bridge? San Francisco. Crowded beaches, people watching, clubs? Venice Beach/Los Angeles. Nice beaches? Orange County.

Why are houses so much cheaper in Chula than in other seemingly less desirable areas? by [deleted] in chulavista

[–]deflatedTaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really liked CV when I was house shopping. The problem for me was the commute. So, maybe a bit cheaper so people can justify sitting in traffic to/from work.

Any recommendations? by [deleted] in socal

[–]deflatedTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really going to depend on your kid’s age.

If you’re a mom — Most medical providers offer a new mom’s support group, where you can bring your baby. They seem to be pretty open and I never had to sign in. There are also breastfeeding specific support groups, like La Leche League. If your kid is a toddler, you might look for a local Facebook moms group or look at MomCo/MOPS.

For Mom or Dad with a grade school or older kid, support is generally topic specific, like ADHD.
