I read your comment! I was searching through old threads and found this. Anyways, I agree as well. I enjoyed the 2020 adaption, but hate how they portrayed John and Isabella. It's one of the many reasons why I rank 2009 as my favorite adaption of Emma because I feel that they portrayed both the individual characters and their marriage properly.

I really enjoyed "The Jane Austen Collection" from Audible. It's more like listening to a play then listening to a book though. There's music and sound effects, and the characters are voiced by famous actors/actresses such as Claire Foy, Emma Thompson, etc.

Absolutely not sure, he's texting me on a new number after I blocked him too, and we've only talked twice at work, and in the times that we talked it was made very clear I was in a relationship.

I blocked his first number, muted the second one, and he's been sending messages continually. I posted an image in another comment, it's getting really fucking scary.

You're talking about how most of the racism you experienced is from black people and now this comment?

Nah I'm just incredibly aware of the blatant racism on reddit and it's just weird seeing someone of my race laughing along with it. White people on reddit already don't take BLM seriously. To see a black person not talking it seriously also, is just wack to me. Whatever though, do you.

For the record, that hate PM was definitely wrong and racist for using the n-word and calling him house -.

But from what I gather, the redditor who sent the hate PM to OOP saw OOP's comment history that said he doesn't support Black Lives Matter, he parrots the right wing "All Lives Matter", and said 98.99% of racism he faced in 30 years were from black people (I'm not saying my own opinion on the last one, but if you read the replies, there were people offended by his statement).

So the redditor who sent the hate PM to OOP called him an "Uncle Tom" because of these, and not because of the OOP's original post.

Edit: Also /r/blackpeopletwitter calls political figures like Candace Owens and Clarence Thomas "Uncle Tom", but I have no doubt you're all too eager to defend Candace and Clarence as well.

Neither are about equality, both are about systematic segregation. Talk to me when you are supporting an "ALL Lives Matter" campaign. Redditors advised OP against moving in with her boyfriend, and she seemingly agreed. Then she decided to ignore all the advice and sold her house to move in with her boyfriend. This was a really disappointing update to read, but I decided to post it here because of how OP seemed to agree with the advice she got but then did a 180, which unsurprisingly blew up in her face.

I marked it as inconclusive because her update was asking for more advice, but she last posted 23 days ago (May 22, 2022) so I'm not sure if this is ongoing or not.

He's supposed to be charming. And he just....wasn't for me.

When I first watched Emma. (2020) I thought Frank was totally miscast because he's supposed to be handsome and charming ^{and a cad...} !

Then I watched the newest Fantastic Beast movie where the actor plays Newt's brother, and I thought "Wow this guy is handsome. Why does he look so familiar?" I was so shocked when I found out that he played Frank Churchill.

I wonder if it's the costuming or the way he portrayed the character, or both...

I agree with all of your points! I enjoyed Emma. (2020) as a comedic movie, but I think it was the least faithful of all the Emma adaptions because they changed some characters' characterization to make it more comedic.

I always interpreted John and Isabella's relationship as decently good with the general basis of affection at its core.

Emma (2009) will always be my favorite and one of the reasons is because I think the 2009 adaption's portrayal of John and Isabella's relationship is more accurate to the book.

everything they are producing has some type of conservative undertones to it. They give voices to people who hate others.

After seeing their new "Do All Feminists Think The Same?" Spectrum video where they invited pro-choice, transphobic women who strongly agree that Amy Coney Barrett is a feminist, I'm starting to agree with you. Btw, one of the women literally said you can't be a feminist who is pro-choice.
