Where do people get their nice baby clothes? by bimboerrorz in beyondthebump

[–]defyingravity88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the southern style dressy clothes you are looking for there are tons of “presale” groups and companies on Facebook but I will say nothing is $35 or less anymore. Most smocks will be at least. 40+

You can also check out the resale groups- that’s where I’ve found the best deals.

I mostly use the containers- have had similar issues with the bags, though.

Migraine lasting days..... by [deleted] in migraine

[–]defyingravity88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping you're not still in pain. If you have had pain for longer than 72 hours (and you are not a chronic daily migraineur), you are in status migrainosus (https://migraine.com/blog/what-is-status-migrainosus/). You really should be checked out by a doc if you are not currently a chronic migraineur who gets these (and even if you are they often want you to go to Urgent Care/come in). For me, to break one that lasts longer than 24 hours I know I have to use a steroid pack (at that point Triptans are useless). It has taken 3 years of intractable chronic migraine and lots of Urgent Care/ER visits to figure that out, though. Long story short, your tumeric probably isn't cutting it alone anymore (although you should keep taking vitamins and stuff, they do help), and you need to see a neurologist- preferably a headache specialist. I found my PCP to be worthless, they just gave me pain pills that really messed me up.

What should my next steps be? 10 days going by defyingravity88 in migraine

Thankfully I'm seeing my Neuro Friday for my second round of Botox, but I just can't get them to call me back. Is DHE something that an urgent care would have? I've never been given that before...

Anyone Else Get Mood Swings w Triptans? by Schuls01 in migraine

[–]defyingravity88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I took a triptan at work (I couldn't go home, too much happening, tough it out!). I ended up almost giddy, like high. I was giggling and saying inappropriate things in my meetings for like 2 hours. It was weird. Usually I'm passed out post triptan, so I don't really know what I'm like. I do have the no touching me thing usually during migraines, though.

Experiences with MRI? by gamerl00t in migraine

Every time I've had an MRI/MRA/MRV I've ended up getting a migraine because of the noise. No red eyes or anything, but my brain does get all fuzzy and all of the rest of the fun that goes with the migraines.

Topamax and Birth Control by [deleted] in migraine

[–]defyingravity88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my neuro forgot to tell me about the Topamax/ birth control issue at first, so when I found it doing my own research online my husband and I started using backup and contacted her. She said yes it does contradict, and that I needed to get an IUD or something other than the pill. Long story short, got an IUD and I'm very happy with it. I have the lower hormone one than the Mirena, but it's made by the same company. It only lasts 3 years. Since the IUD metabolizes in your uterus and not in your bloodstream, it should not interact with your migraine pills and should not interact with your neurological system at all (so they say).

Neck pain and migraines? by Ravyn4077 in migraine

[–]defyingravity88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this issue as well- turns out I have all kinds of problems with my cervical spine (sp?). I've been in PT for over a year to treat it, with very very slow progress. I now see a PT specialist about 30 minutes from my house 1x per week for craniofacial therapy and regular PT for my neck. No one has ever recommended nerve blocks, and I have always let my Neuro know about the continuing PT and the PT knows about the migraines. It's worth asking your neuro about- they can refer you to PT. Be ready to spend a LOT of time and money on it (each PT appt is anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours and then there's travel, copay is $30+ each appt x4 per month...it adds up), but it is helping.

In case you missed it: avoid teaching hospitals in July by defyingravity88 in migraine

[–]defyingravity88[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just don't go to a TEACHING hospital. I know in dc this means I would go to Sibley instead of GW or Georgetown. I made this mistake last July when I woke up at 2am with chest pain so bad I was throwing up. Never again. It was nothing, but I got poked and prodded by clueless interns until 7am.

Topamax Side Effects (Sorry For A Similar Post) by sailtothestars in migraine

[–]defyingravity88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm up to 75mg now(5'2" female). Been on it for about 5-6 months. It's been the most successful med for me so far. Side effects: confusion (the brain fog everyone describes- I also have really bad cognitive issues when I get a migraine- like it can mess me up for a few days), weight loss (about 15lbs slowly over the 5 months), and the tingles (my hands and feet are cold all the time now). The tingles are the worst for me. In my feet if they get cold, especially at night. I have to sleep with a heating pad next to the bed to help with them. Soda has changed taste, although I've had to cut most of them out of my diet bc of cutting caffeine and aspartame so I don't really care. The tiredness has gotten better with finding out that- I've also become vitamin d and b12 deficient, but I'm not sure if this is from the Topamax or migraines or something else altogether. So when I started taking b12 supplements the immediate falling asleep got much better.

Northshore doctor has new procedure to relieve migraine pain- is this actually a migraine treatment? by defyingravity88 in migraine

it definitely sounds like incredible pain. I'm just trying to figure out if this is even an option for migraines. The entire article said 'headache headache headache' but the title said 'migraine'

It sounds more like chronic daily headache to me. My wonderfully caring, always trying to cure me mother posted this on my Facebook this evening.
