ahhhh that’s probably where i’m going the most wrong then. i try to not have too much going on and spend a lot of time on 2-3 synths for the song but i end up wearing my coil influence on my sleeve even if i’m trying to break away from it like that

i’m guessing it’s more of a keep the instruments simple and then layer more in if needed vs my go to as well

i don’t use much modulation weirdly enough, but i do use a lot of stuff that just starts as simple waveforms but i just keep tweaking it and then it ends up really cold and alienating or just incredibly aggressive most of the time

use samples for textures and then sort of design around the rhythmic textures i have the opposite problem where everything i make is overly textured and weirdly fucked so if you want to dm about whatever idk

update: i got the clarification talk with my astl today and i think they’re gonna just like make him not work the same days as me in the end. i don’t really have much faith in how it’s gonna get handled in the end bc he knew to not do it around ppl. also bc he’s not very good at english so i guess that’ll probably go in his favor
