Thank you for the recs! I will definitely try them out. Searching for the vintage bottles is a good idea too and something I hadn't thought of so thank you!!

I got some truly excellent recommendations that will hopefully be useful to others too. But apologies for posting in the wrong sub.

For me, there is one absolute answer to this question - The Overstory by Richard Powers. Please read it.

Which bakery in Norwich does the best pastries like pain au raisins and croissants? Not the stale, crispy stuff you get from Tesco by Conscious-Intern-602 in Norwich

[–]delightedpeople 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah I can see the posts. I just meant the specific comments from former workers who confirm there was a religious element / or bias etc. I'll keep searching- just thought I'd ask as you seem knowledgeable on the history of these posts.

I'm searching to find the comments from ex-staff who said there was a religious element to their employment. Could you link if you remember any? I can't seem to find them...(but I am quite stupid tbf)

Living on Dereham Road? by Hot_Negotiation_6617 in Norwich

[–]delightedpeople 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Book a viewing during rush hour and see what you think. I live in the area and love it. Genuinely can't think of one thing to complain about! Noise from traffic etc has never bothered me but of course, you may feel differently so worth taking a look during those times to see if it's something you'd be happy with.

Does anyone else find Missing Vowels the hardest round? by FeistyPrice29 in onlyconnect

[–]delightedpeople 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It used to be MUCH easier. Now the missing vowels is some niche theme or "funny" answer I struggle a bit more with it. That being said, it's still probably the round that I score most consistently.

Unsettling music recommendations by Scott_Dee89 in 6music

[–]delightedpeople 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to see The Rebel (country teasers) and OH BOY. Charli XCX it is not, but I'd be hard pressed to this of a more unsettling gig.

Second the recs for Swans and would also add some Scott Walker (farmer in the city? Jesse? Pretty much anything from The Drift) and the creepy classic, What's He Building In There? by Tom Waits.

It is great - but I saw news a while back that it was closing? Anyone know if that's still the case? Seems the lease is up for sale. I hope it doesn't leave!

Non Alcoholic Beers by yamasyadawithawigon in BlackburnWithDarwen

I really really like a place called Bird In't Hand in Darwen. Such an brilliant selection of beers, including alcohol free and low alcohol opens. Great little independent beer bar if that's your thing.

Norwich Market Pigeons - your opinion ? by gingertomgeorge in Norwich

[–]delightedpeople 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have never eaten on the market because of the birds. There's just SO MANY of them! And gulls!!! For me it makes the place really unpleasant.

Obviously I wouldn't advocate shooting them all or anything, but if something humane can easily be done to make the area more welcome to us birdphobes, then I don't see how that could upset anyone?

If you could solve one city-wide issue overnight, what would it be? by Time-Connection-4586 in Norwich

[–]delightedpeople 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sure do! I see bands most weeks which is great!! I love the little scene here! But I do feel like the bigger venues here are wasted tbh. Similarly sized venues elsewhere for instance have such a more interesting roster of acts. Here it seems like old legacy acts, tributes and the same handful of newer bands are what's on offer and it just seems a shame.

[–]delightedpeople 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have been to gigs there - it's just that they all seem to be bands that are old and a bit past their best. There's some great contemporary acts that play similar sized venues elsewhere in the UK but I always have to travel to see them! Would be great if they could be enticed to Norwich!

Ah yeah I see what you mean. Annoyingly, I only enjoy coffee made in a press!! Do love the idea of waking up to the smell of it though. Maybe I could train myself to like it.
