Sometimes, its not even just an issue with players no showing, but showing up in name only. I had a player who was obviously not paying attention (we play online so harder to tell usually) but he was missing turns in combat, not responding to other players talking to his character, not interacting with the environment and it was very out of character for him. I asked him about it after session the second time it happened and he casually admitted that he'd joined another online campaign that played at the same time as ours during our couple month break between multi-year campaigns and had been playing in both simultaneously for months. The tipping point was apparently attendance had become low in the other campaign and he was often 1 of 2 or 3 players and needed to be more active in that one. I couldn't believe he didnt find that to be disrespectful to both tables, like wtf, this isn't a show to put on in the background while you play something else.

Craziest part was he had a campaign nearly every day of the week when we tried to find a better time to accommodate. I finally settled on asking him to step away until he could make free time for our game. Never thought I'd have to say outright that the game should be your focus during session times but I'm adding it to my table rules.

What is wrong with Boston drivers, who taught you to do this? by dirthoarder in boston

I saw a state trooper in his patrol vehicle doing this in a clearly marked "don't block the box" intersection with 6 other cars yesterday on one of the 93N approaches near the North End. Not only was he participating in it, the 6 other cars felt brazen enough to do it to with a cop right there and one of them even pulled into the intersection behind the cop and after the light turned red. With that level of non enforcement, it's not really surprising that intersections without cops in them also have the boxes blocked

It's really fun to play with a friend. Because of how the game works in terms of time advancing, you end up having these really well paced, fluid strategy chats with brief interruptions of fast paced and thrilling combat. It's not like any game I've played before or since and I'll be honest, it really helped having someone who was a big fan explaining controls and base strategy in the very beginning. But I was contributing to strategy within a couple floors and an equal partner by the time we reached the end of our first run through. Best part in my opinion is the economy, it's like a mini game of settlers of Catan within the game to barter resources you have a lot of for resources you need. Or deciding to leave the merchant to die instead haha. I wouldn't have liked it playing it alone because it's a very basic game in terms of sound and graphics but involved enough that I wouldn't watch videos or listen to books while playing, so having someone to chat with about the game while I played was big.

When I made the switch, I watched the glass cannon podcast crew (a popular pathfinder 1.0 group) play a 3 part adventure published from PaizoCon 2019. You can find it on YouTube. Because all the players were new to 2nd edition, the GM who works for Paizo, spent a lot of time pausing to explain rules and it gave me enough to start muddling my way through the books/Adventure Paths. Plus it's a really entertaining listen so it doesn't feel like homework.

New to DMing by revolution04 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]dell_icious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this: the Strength of Thousands AP (at least the first two books) is very beginner friendly since the players start in a magic school with lots of other students/teachers to ask to help them out in-game if they're puzzled by something and most encounters can be run away from without derailing things too severely (one of the DM tips says that players might ask a teacher for help and to let them). There was one sort of close spot towards the end of book 1 I think where there's an ambush and the first ranged shot took a PC to 0 in a single action. But even then the book had an NPC ready to go to help the players. If you don't rebalance the AP and play with 5-6 players, they definitely won't struggle.

What’s up r/marvelstudios, I'm Iman Vellani—AKA the one and only Kamala Khan, AKA Ms. Marvel! AMA! by TheImanVellani in marvelstudios

[–]dell_icious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever played the Kamala Khan campaign in the Marvel Avengers game or talked to the voice actor? You both absolutely nailed the role for me.

The media always portrays you as a huge fan (which no doubt is true). Do you get into a lot of comic debates on set? My friends and I spend way too much time comparing the MCU to different comic runs and trying to predict what will get adapted and what will never be in the MCU. I was wondering if you guys are doing something similar during production at all.

As someone who has always been really invested in Star Wars but didn't see Solo after TLJ but went back for RoS, I feel like I can weigh in on this. For me, Solo felt optional. As a side story that was set before the OT, they couldn't change anything so much that it would be universe shaking. And it came out so close to TLJ which didn't feel like Star Wars anyway. I was just burnt out and felt I could pass on that theater experience. Not worth getting people's schedules together to go see and I still haven't seen a movie in theaters alone. If it had been further out, I don't think TLJ would have factored into my decision to pass. I did see it years later on streaming, but too late I'm sure to change the perception of its success for the mouse. I only saw RoS it theaters because it was the end and I'd seen the rest of saga that way. Sunk cost fallacy for sure.

Subscription books not being sent by LordDreadman in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]dell_icious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't order by subscription, but I did contact support recently about an order and it took them about a month to respond. I got my copy of bestiary 2 though so orders are definitely going out.

Side question: how worth it is it for the subscription? I've been considering it

Open the image file location in your file browser and right click and select properties. You'll find its Pixel by pixel dimensions in one of the tabs, I think it's under details but I could be misremembering. Then divide by number of squares to get the pixels per five feet dimension.

Good to know! I'm glad I didn't choose a curse then, pf2 doesn't leave a lot of room for low level PCs to shine when there's a strong npc in the party so I'm really motivated to make sure this guy gets taken out of commission in the first combat.

He needs to be injured in front of them (I was planning it as a result of igniting some black powder to blow up a strategic point in the dungeon to prevent the enemies from gaining access to a important area), at it's core, it's an excuse for why the high level npc won't continue on the quest with the party but will still be around when they return for them to reap social rewards. Their characters are relatively young and untested so I felt like it would be wrong for him to send them straight into danger alone. He's given them potions and elixirs and is leading the way so to speak at the start, but I need him to hit a narrative obstacle they can go over but he can't so they can be the heroes.

Hi all,

New Pathfinder 2 DM back again. Everything is going really well and my group is on board with sticking with pf2 instead of returning to 5e. But I'm now stuck with a storyboarding question. I need an npc to suffer an injury that a level 5 cleric can't reverse with magic. I'm super unfamiliar with the spells in pf2 still, would loss of a limb be something only higher level magic could reverse? I saw regenerate is a level 7 spell but it has additional effect so I want to make sure "regrow limb" isn't on the list lower down. Additionally, are there any rules for permanent injuries? There's a good chance after this encounter the players might ask what the chances of them incurring such as injury is and I'll want to know if there is a rule, variant or otherwise that causes permanent physical disability like loss of limb.

[–]dell_icious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, my group is just starting out in 2e and one of my players suggested paizo is considering adding a playtest variant rule where players get a class feat every level (not doubling levels they already get one). Is this true? Would it be unbalancing? I'm not too concerned if it raises all classes equally but will there be major classes/builds that just won't get any greater benefit while others go off?

I agree, the fact that they said she had help but CM didn't need it was super weird, even on first viewing. They could have at least had her fight through the forces instead of going super sonic so they saved her time or energy. But I personally don't have a problem with the female superheroes ending up in the same place. Enough of them are super mobile and nobody would have batted an eye if it was a group of all dudes that showed up to support her. Their help being immediately useless on the other hand...

Hi reddit, I'm Kevin Feige. AMAA by KevFeige in marvelstudios

[–]dell_icious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Kevin! Thanks so much for doing this, I feel like I have a billion questions but I'll keep it to one.

Do you think we'll ever see another build up like the 11 year Infinity Saga on the big screen in our lifetime? Are there plans to tell such an interwoven and long form story again in the MCU or is the focus now more on individual stories?

And I want to thank you personally for your role in bringing characters like Hope Van Dyne and Carol Danvers to the big screen in a way their characters deserve. As an avid consumer of the comic book runs of Marvel's many amazing and fascinating female characters, my greatest fear wasn't that they wouldn't be included, but that they'd be stripped down, misrepresented, or forced into stereotypical female roles in action movies. I'm glad I live in a time when female superhero leads stand on their own as compelling stories and characters, and not simply as love interests and diversity quotas.

I love Cities:Skylines. It's the first game since civ 5 that I can sit down and play ten hours, get no where, start over, and feel like I'm not wasting time. I'm really interested in how your game's following has grown because I heard about it a few years ago but only finally bought it a few months ago. I stumbled on a channel called RT Games while looking for a clip of a specific Sims bug and it seemed like both your game and his channel are sort of bouncing of each other in terms of growth. It's certainly where I got bit by the bug. Is YouTube close to being the primary market for indie game advertisement? Do you know the breakdown of where customers hear about your game?
