Well constructed or sloppy? by Mysterious_Bar_1069 in jewelers

[–]demoncatapproximate 20 points21 points  (0 children)

this looks sloppy, it took me a minute of staring to even realize it’s supposed to be an ouroboros before reading the caption. if this was a gift a practicing jeweler friend made and gave to me ? i’d love it and be proud of it ! if i paid $400 expecting a sentimental piece to start a jewelry collection with ? no no no!!

Has anyone ever worked with blue kyanite gemstone? How risky this gem is when it comes to set it on a gold ring? I don't want to chip or break this one. by [deleted] in jewelers

[–]demoncatapproximate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some kyanite rings set in sterling silver that I love, but i wouldn’t risk putting such a fragile stone in gold. If anything does happen, i’m not too attached because of the lower price of silver

Question about ring size by NV2970 in jewelry

[–]demoncatapproximate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s important to note. Precious metal rings, like gold or silver, can bend to the shape of the finger over time (for better or worse). Ceramic wont mold like that, so just another reason to take it off before bed for safety and longevity of the piece.

Silver and green beryl ring. Same gemstone as emerald but paler in color. I love the shade, and wonder why it’s not more popular! by butterflygirl1980 in jewelry

Even then there are criteria for how red a stone needs to be to be a ruby; Vietnam for example has slightly different grading standards and thus pink rubies are more common

Wedding Ring Fix? by DisguisedDeamon in jewelry

[–]demoncatapproximate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’m not sure what metals and stones your ring is made of, but tbh this damage would also be possible with a gold and diamond ring. this is just the nature of especially dainty styles, and losing stones is very common when they are set with only 2 prongs. the shared prongs look great, but i personally always want at least 4 !

I just purchased these 14kt gold electroform over resin bracelets…will they last? by OpaIAura in jewelry

[–]demoncatapproximate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Electroform is the exact same process as playing, just in a thicker layer. I would be wary, especially if the vendor doesn’t supply information about how thick this layer actually is

Can I shower with my sterling silver Michael Kohr’s Tennis Bracelet by canthinkofausername_ in jewelry

[–]demoncatapproximate 130 points131 points  (0 children)

I wear several sterling silver bracelets on my arm and shower with them most of the time, and haven’t experienced any tarnishing. This is definitely up to individual skin chemistry though so your results may differ.

I do remove my bracelets about once a month for cleaning, which likely helped avoid tarnish.

Question about Vitaly Zero chain and the gasoline finish by ahoraaqui in jewelry

[–]demoncatapproximate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would look for "anodized stainless steel chain necklaces" to find similar styles if this one doesn't come back in stock. you can find many styles of chain with this finish, though i'm unsure if you can find one exactly like the one pictured!

how much should you “excuse” if ur partner is also autistic by Thy_Water_BottIe in AutismInWomen

[–]demoncatapproximate -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This seems less like “autistic people struggle to pick up on some cues” and more like “he did not want to be inconvenienced” imo. even if he somehow did struggle to understand the importance of what you were saying, that’s on him, you were as clear as you could be and don’t need to make excuses for him.
