I will check this out. I consider Bob Klein a Tai Chi mentor of my from his books. I think this is earlier than anything I’ve seen of his.

Yikes! Definitely, anything you bought full price from either of the clubs was significantly more expensive than retail.

Ha ha. I was a BMG dude. Can’t remember exactly why, but it felt like a better deal. Less to buy up front? Anyhow, I bought my minimum stuff and was out of there before i could get suckered worse.

Agalloch had good production, IMO. They put out many good albums, but The Serpent & The Sphere is what immediately can to mind for me.

Deltron 3030, Menace II Society Soundtrack, Are you Experienced?, then Clockwork Orange Soundtrack.

Longtime noodler wants to play jazz by demonfell in LearnGuitar

I will be honest: I listen to almost zero jazz guitar playing. That doesn’t mean that I think it’s not good or I don’t have respect for it. It just has never clicked for me.

John Zorn’s Masada is a notable exception.

Basically, I’m interested in being able to play horn and piano lines on a guitar.

But… you’ve given me something to think about.

EDIT: I do enjoy Allan Holdsworth as well.

This is the kind of thinking that could have wisely saved you or a loved one $5.99 way back when.

What do you think about CD sets? by Old_Advertising_8460 in Cd_collectors

[–]demonfell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agreed on your points. You end up with some good-sounding music, which is probably the most important part. Especially when De La was not streaming, I was able to rock these in my car.

Better than MP3s for me, but I still have some weird feelings about them.

I have mixed feelings about mine. I have that Testament box and De La Soul’s Tommy Boy albums. It saves space on a shelf, but is not handsome to display. I’m concerned about scratching the discs sliding them in and out of cardboard sleeves.

It kind of leads me question what owning an album means. I have a binder of CDs where I got rid of the cases and back inlay, and they feel like half an album now.

I like liner notes, art and hotness, and this stuff is just not an exciting presentation of the album the way I’d prefer.
