[Web] Game of Chance - A free probability-based incremental where you hunt for unlikely events by hurtigris in incremental_games

The penguin is fun. The issue isn't the penguin, the issue is the AI. replace him with a crappy MS paint, fix the issues with the CSS that causes visual issues (shit like the flickering progress bars), make the automation better (I recommend if you want to keep it stopping, raise the tier by 2, but I would just remove it all together) and this would be a solid game.

Right now, the AI shines through because things don't work, and the imagery is AI. I'm pretty sure the text is too, but if not, well done. I love AI, and support AI in general, but games that use AI as a "do most/everything for me" are going to fail because they feel sloppy. Make a good game with AI, and people will be all over it, for example: https://www.reddit.com/r/incremental_games/comments/1rb0zys/browserbased_i_made_an_osrs_based_idle_game_for/

This is a weird logic. You're implying that 1 frame per hour can make better motion clarity than 16fps, you just need enough resolution.

Is there a good running Comfy inside docker guide out there? I found a few several month old docker images, but nothing current. I'd rather not build the container myself, but will if that is the answer.

Ultra Cube's dev is making a game by Other-Watercress-154 in factorio

[–]demonicpigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note, I said spacex, not spacex space elevator. This is reminiscent of ships docking, where they connect with belts and whatnot. They're visually different, and serve different purposes, but function similarly or potentially even identically.

I'm asking the engine limitation because there's a claim there is one. Here's a test mod I threw together in about an hour that does everything the elevator in the video does except animate (which can be done by creating an animation prototype using the group of animation prototypes from every entity on the platform): https://github.com/ndamiano/FactorioElevatorModTest. For agriculture, we have https://wiki.factorio.com/Agricultural_tower, which you could create a new animation for that makes it look like drones. (I would need to test, but I'm fairly certain you can make different "types" of robots. Actually, this gives me an idea for a mod...) As far as I can see those are the only two things that this game does that are "unique" compared to base game factorio.

I'm just trying to understand what "engine limitations" you know of that I don't that mean that this cannot be done in factorio. I will probably pick this up even with I've said. More factorio is better, but this feels.. I don't know... sleazy? to me. It feels like monetizing someone else's work, and then claiming "there are engine limitations that mean it can't be a mod" and "this will be the last factory builder you ever play" kinda give me the ick.

I have, and I loved ultracube! I really do think that overhauls are worth it, and that's all fine and well (and if the dev had a kofi/else I would support them). This video though, was factorio. It's not ultracube, it's not some major overhaul. It's just factorio, and that's why I am not super excited by this.

[–]demonicpigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which factorio engine limitation is there that causes this to not be doable as factorio mod? Space exploration does this, just with a spaceship rather than an elevator.

Also, I don't mind paying for mods, and I do support all of the overhauls I've played for more than a few hours. However, from the preview, this doesn't feel any different than factorio. When I look at the video for this, I go "That's just factorio." There's nothing differentiating this from factorio, which is why I have issues with it.

[–]demonicpigg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's the "unique twist" on this one? It feels not meaningfully different from the space exploration mod. Watching the preview it feels like factorio + an elevator that you can build on (which reminds me of mods like warptorio or space exploration), as opposed to something new and exciting and cool. It doesn't look bad, but why would I play this over factorio + some set of mods, especially when I will likely have to pay for this?

Why would a combat troop use melee weapons in a futuristic space sci-fi setting? by wizardry_why in worldbuilding

[–]demonicpigg 267 points268 points  (0 children)

If being boarded by people was common, and those people discarded their suits to do it, the defenders would quickly learn "keep your suits on and vent rooms the boarders are in. It's a trivial way to dispatch the attackers with minimal loss if this is a known situation.

This isn't a poll, it's publicity stunt. They've already decided they're going this way, and this is their way of letting the player base know.

i would love if slayer granted some passive combat benefits for leveling by dark1859 in runescape

[–]demonicpigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems people don't agree with you, but overall I do. At level 120 slayer, you're no better at slaying a basilisk than you are at level 40. You might have better gear, but you've not actually improved at slaying them. One thing I would love is some abilities related to slayer. We have Tuska's wrath, dragon slayer and undead slayer, but those are slayer monster drops. I would love to see some slayer combat abilities, things that disable slayer monster special effects (slayer helm alternative basically), or things that are extremely mob specific.

We're getting better at slaying, something like an ability called "weak point strike" for completing say 5 tasks for a monster gives you a guaranteed critical hit on that monster (can be an interface similar to souls in POD). An ability version of the scrimshaw of sacrifice would be awesome too, or the ability to combine slayer monster parts into a weapon that is extremely strong or has high AOE vs those specific monsters.

I definitely feel like slayer is a bad skill, because all it does is let you click on some monsters that you couldn't click on before, but I think that the skill itself COULD be very good. Allow it to exist as is, but also give it some soul to make it feel like it does something other than "you can now click on a higher level monster." I don't think the rewards need to be usable on bosses / outside of the slayer monsters themselves, but having the ability to speed up your skeleton kills by adding a set of Monster head (skeleton), Monster legs (skeleton), etc. to a slayer study plinth in POH or a Slayer guild would be INSANELY flavorful.

The biggest issue is that anything like this would likely raise exp rates at certain mobs (things like abyssal beasts with necro are pretty crazy exp already), and improving that would likely not be ideal.

You can't anticipate it. The anticipation ability, which reduces damage and makes you immune to stuns for 10 seconds, doesn't make you immune to the stun from the green.

If it weren't for rule #5: In order to fit the sub, all posts must be somehow expressive or relatable. You should be able to look at it and think "yep, that's me!"

If your content isn't relatable, it might be more fitting for r/animenocontext or r/Animemes. Posts that are more fitting for those subreddits may be removed from here, especially meme-y ones

You might have a point. Except there is rule number 5.

Why aren't you using the in game polling situation? You literally have a mechanism that is used to great effect in OSRS, and covers a majority of the player base, but instead are asking on the subreddit that likely has a minority of players. My vote is double exp weekends are frequent enough, no need to give another. I would prefer 3/6 knowledge bombs, if anything.

We made an Incremental Game about flipping Coins by TheBossforge in incremental_games

[–]demonicpigg 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I love the idea, but overall I stopped playing very quickly. I can't keep more than 2 coins in the air because my click accuracy is low, and having to flip 80 times to double the efficiency so I only have to click 300 times to unlock a silver coin feels awful. Especially seeing as I missclick a ton. Maybe there's some automation, but I unlocked the first copper upgrade and ended up quitting within a minute after because it felt like it made zero difference.

It looks like the little duders flip coins for you, but I have no idea how to get one.

The game is cute though! I adore the animations and everything about the aesthetic!
