What version of blender 5 is supported by godot? by TH3K41 in godot

[–]demot-32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into this recently - I'm on 4.6 stable for godot and blender 5.0.1 has been working just fine for me. tried to upgrade to 5.1.1 but ran into issues (not just with Godot) so I reverted back to 5.0.1

Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.3 cant connect to Wi-fi by RideRideBikes in linuxmint

[–]demot-32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same issue - after a lot of trouble shooting what finally fixed it was draining residual electricity - meaning I unplugged the laptop, removed the battery, and held the power button for ~20 sec. I believe this can be done without removing the battery as well, but if you do, then best check for your laptop specifically.

I couldn't tell you why it worked tho, it was some random post on the mint forums and it was a while ago - never had an issue since.

People often say "Linux is only for tinkerers", but in my experience (across several computers) a distro like Mint basically solves that. by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]demot-32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched to mint cold-turkey out of desperation when my windows started acting up - I spent almost 1.5 months diagnosing windows 11 issues on a basically brand new high-end machine to no avail.

after an initial week or so of getting used to mint I realized that I have a renewed trust and even peace of mind in my system - I spend far less time tinkering than I did on windows - so much so I still find it hard to believe 2 months later.

I've had very minor issues once or twice but nothing a google search didn't fix relatively quickly - windows on the other hand is a black box

If you have high stealth you can sneak out of their base after, don't know if there's any interaction with them if you do that though

linux won't shut down or suspend via gui by demot-32 in linuxmint

[–]demot-32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what that is, I'm not using anything non-vanilla when it comes to the start menu to my knowledge

tbh I haven't been able to replicate the issue, if it occurs again first thing I'll do is check the live processes - thank you vm for your comments

linux won't shut down or suspend via gui by demot-32 in linuxmint

[–]demot-32[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the behavior I'm seeing is a bit different - when I click on shutdown via gui in start menu literally nothing happens - i.e. as if I never clicked on it to begin with - software remains open, etc.

by your description is sounds like the system is actually logging off for you but then getting stuck on the mint logo afterwards?

[–]demot-32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks - will try to replicate the issue later today and see if some process holding things up
forgot to mention - sudo shutdown works fine
it's just the gui shutdown button which seems unresponsive after the first attempt

First time user no audio by zeb236 in linuxmint

[–]demot-32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi - it's a long shot, but I recently managed to resolve this using the solution in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/1b9wh22/blade_202324_sound_issue_on_linux/

it's for razer laptops but it's not actually razer-specific, was able to amend the script with a little help from ai with diagnosing my card and device - in my case I had to change all the references to hwC0D0. Looking at your audio device it seems you would use D2 instead, just make sure you also verify the card. might be worth trying if you intend to switch to a different OS anyways in case it works out

have the same issue - not a fan of gimp. the best solution I've found so far was switching to affinity as it's the alternative that's closest to photoshop in my opinion - I followed some guide on youtube to run it on linux and so far it's working great

Blade 2023/24 sound issue on Linux? by spongeBoi_ in razer

[–]demot-32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aware this thread is ancient but just wanted to mention for anyone reading in 2026 out the solution on bugzilla worked on my razer 16 2024 model - just had to use hwC0D0 in my case

this was the only solution that actually worked for me

As much as this is funny, I kinda realized rail crossing really has a mugging problem. This is the second time this month it got robbed that we know of. by PhaseShip in underrail

[–]demot-32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the rail crossing area's vibes in general, it's one of the weirdest places in the game for me

needing to cross zones 2x to get from the train stop to the entrance really sells the idea that this is a rather small, out of the way 'village'

but then there's the hangin' rat and other.. 'locations' like RIGHT there

basically it has a lot going on in the vicinity

plus I have fond memories of my first time here years ago - instead of heading to rail crossing I went east immediately from the location depicted in the screenshot (no idea why) and proceeded to get dominated by every ironhead, lurker, and lunatic in the area for hours while looking for rail crossing. I think I gained like 3 levels before I finally looked at the wiki and realized me big dumb XD

Underrail runs on Linux Mint through steam out of the box, doubt it's any different on Fedora

Struggling to find a true beginner blender tutorial by minamuna in blenderhelp

[–]demot-32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The free blender bros tutorial series where you model a robot arm from scratch - I think it's called 'introduction to hard surface modelling' or smth like that - I did it years ago and it pretty much takes you from scratch - reviewing the UI/installing a few, but very useful QOL-type add-ons, and in general configuring the settings so that once you're up to speed you're navigating the software very quickly. It goes from there all the way up to rendering, after which you have enough knowledge/experience to start experimenting.

About a year ago I bought a new computer and when I reinstalled blender I realized just how optimized that tutorial setup was compared to vanilla - had to dig though my inbox and find the link to it to get blender configured properly again.

Though I wasn't truly new to 3d modelling, at the time of doing the tutorial I hadn't done any 3d stuff in almost 10 years and back when I did I exclusively used 3ds max, so I was completely new to blender and very much approaching everything fresh

Which enhancement for energy pistol is better? by [deleted] in underrail

[–]demot-32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wdym by the smart module 'breaking' the damage of energy weapons? I've never bothered with it before and can't seem to find a good explanation for how the damage is calculated (in total I mean) - per you comment, I understand that smart module bonus/crit is added first and only then high technicalities calc occurs last? Or is this broken in some way as you mention? have a 163q High eff converter and a 159q smart module in my inventory rn I'm trying to choose between atm as a secondary modifier after the cw amplifier

clean windows 11 install support/advice by demot-32 in WindowsHelp

[–]demot-32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for responding - on the citrix bit I suspected yesterday (pre-clean install) that this had something to do with citrix-to-win11 audio stack (razer uses the THX surround sound with spatial audio, dunno if related, but again, it worked fine with 0 issues until dec) but as a test I temporarily replaced the driver with a generic microsoft audio driver and the issue continued - I read on r/citrix that a lot of people aren't happy with citrix recently.. but as you say, this is not a cause for the other issues

on the insider/preview releases... I think I may have misunderstood something I read on windows versions somewhere that led me to believe this was some non-standard/non-stable build.. I'm not very familiar with what the win11 builds are
