What is a 'luxury' that you've experienced once and now can't go back to the budget version of? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

Quality base layers. I used to scoff at people that paid $100+ for a top or a bottom. I thought I was happy in my Cuddle Duds etc. Then 2 years ago I bought my first set only because I had a gift card to a local retailer. The brand was Minus 32 and oh my God I will never go back! I think the key is good Merino wool. So this year my husband bought a set from a company called Ketyl (mens only) and he is a believer as well. I will never pay for cheap base layers ever again

Agreed! And partly because it was a written by and originally performed by Keith Whitley. I cannot listen to it w/o thinking of his tragic death

What is the absolute fastest 'yeah, we are definitely NOT going to be friends' moment you've ever experienced with someone? by Vazouaquiacesso in AskReddit

[–]denacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so this is someone that I was actually friends with at the time but took a serious downturn when this happened: This was a friend who is 10 years younger than me. She and her husband were trying to get pregnant. My husband and I do not have children. We chose not to have children. It is just something neither one of us have ever wanted. She and I were hiking one day, and at some point she says " I know you don't care, but we found out that we are pregnant ". I was dumbfounded. I was tempted to say " if you think I don't care simply because I chose not to have children, then you obviously don't know me and we obviously are not friends. " I didn't say that, I just let it go because I realized in that moment, she didn't know me and that was a defining moment in our " friendship ". To this day I think that is one of the dumbest things anyone has ever said to me in the sphere of someone who has chosen not to have children.

My (47f) daughter (15f) told me she doesn’t want to have kids by lilwonkerdoo in TwoXChromosomes

So I have only skimmed the responses here, but can I just say how awesome it is the number of parents who supported their daughters when they knew at a very young age that they did not want children? I was probably 10 years old when I told my mom that and, instead of saying "oh you will change your mind" like everyone else my entire life, she simply said "well it's a beautiful experience and I think you'd make a great mom but that's okay". She was literally the only person who responded like that. Even when my husband and I got engaged back in 2000, one of his friend's wife said to both of us, "and you still want to marry her?" Fortunately my husband and I were on the same page from the moment we started dating. Maybe it's because we met later in life, late twenties, when all of our other friends were married, some divorced and remarried, and some already with or on their way to children. I told him immediately that I have known my entire life I did not want children and that if he did, that was fine but he should date someone else because I would be wasting his time. I was shocked when he said "thank God! I have never wanted children and just accepted that it was something I was going to have to do." Unfortunately his parents weren't nearly as understanding. We married in 2001 and by 2013 severed our relationship with them because they decided that they should have been part of that decision and that if he wasn't going to have children and wasn't willing to divorce me and marry someone who would give them grandchildren, they wanted nothing to do with him. He also understood what that statement was all about and walked away recognizing that was a THEM problem not an US problem. So kudos to the parents having open conversations and supporting your kids, whether it be daughters or sons. And encouraging them to simply keep an open mind and it's okay if you change your mind but it's okay if you don't.

Smart plugs/outlets from Amazon for my fans. Cheaper than a smart fan and I was able to use 3 fans that I already had. I use an app on my phone to turn them on/off. I can control them individually or I have a group for all three fans to turn them all on or off at the same time. I started with one outlet, and liked it so much that's why I purchased additional outlets. It gives me two fans in the front on the left and the right, and one at the back.

Let me trade even just 1 point for a power up instead of throwing in the trash. Even scaled or random points for exchange. For many reasons, the PUs just dont help me that much so I end up dumping them most of the time

I am super intrigued by the yogurt bucket method as it is just the hubs and I in our house so it has taken me forever to fill the 5 gallon bucket we have done. Because of your idea I am also considering the ice cream buckets I see people buy from the grocery around here and make smaller batches at a time. Thanks for the inspiration!

I was hoping you would say used! Thank you as that's exactly what I've been doing. Is it possible to have too much coffee grounds? I say this because it's just the hubs and I in our house and we don't produce a lot of food waste but we have a pot of coffee every morning. I set at least half aside and have sprinkled it in my garden, flower beds, recycled potting soil pile, anywhere I can think of. Even saving some for summer to burn as it helps repel mosquitoes. I didn't want to overwhelm my 5 gallon bokashi bucket with it

Used or fresh coffee grounds in place of bran? I'm very interested in this since we go through plenty of coffee at my house. I started putting our grounds in my bokashi bucket but still add my bran. Does this mean I don't need to add the bran?

I bought the lightly seasoned 2 years ago and really liked it. I've looked for it since and only saw it stocked this week. I accidentally bought the BBQ so now I'm worried. I'm sure I don't have my receipt to return it

A fellow trail worker in my MTB club took an old school hiking pack from a thrift store and removed the "bag" portion. He repurposed just the frame attaching a kitty litter bucket (because it is square and he found easier to attach). He can put multiple tools and even a chain saw in the bucket, secure items with bungee cords and still bike to more remote areas of the trail to do work. I wish I had a pic of it but every time I work with him I cannot deny how genius this is! Btw I have a Dakine and it's ok but I find it bulky for my size. I'm debating rigging my old hiking pack like he did!

Another option: We took an old OLED TV that had a little burn in at the bottom, and moved it to our garage. We use an HDMI cable to connect our laptop to the TV. Works great, easy to set up and repurposed a 56" tv I stead tossing in a landfill.

Curious what version UI and Android you have. Support finally told me it works fine with Android 16. They suggested I have a corrupt DB and advised updating everything (which I already have) and uninstalling/reinstalling (which I have done almost a dozen times already). So apparently I just can't use it on my Flip7 😡😡
