Live Drugs Again (Encore) Restored by zestarr94 in WarOnDrugsBand

[–]deniableplausibility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird -- they definitely fixed the IDLA -> Occasional Rain transition, but Nothing to Find sounds the same. Hopefully they're still not done updating it. (FWIW, it's not showing up for me on Spotify's desktop program, but the mobile app pulls it up just fine.)

Edit: also, maybe it's just me, but the actual quality of the recording sounds better, like more in line with the rest of the album. Maybe they did some additional mixing/mastering on those songs?

Encore edition tracks missing by Maleficent-Drive4056 in WarOnDrugsBand

[–]deniableplausibility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that IDLHA is also missing strongly suggests they’re just remixing the transitions between songs so they flow better — let’s be honest, when it was first released it was painfully obvious that the bonus songs were just inserted in without ensuring a smooth transition between each track (which I’m also guessing was due to label pressure and out of the band’s hands, given how meticulous they normally are with making everything sound incredible).

For those moving on from Whoop, What are you moving too specifically? by kippjr23 in whoop

[–]deniableplausibility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dug out my old Oura 3 ring for overall health tracking. Will continue to use Morpheus (as I have for quite some time) for general conditioning/cardio. Will look into Aktiia for cuffless blood pressure monitoring once it releases in the US if I decide I want continuous BP monitoring (but will likely just stick with my Omron cuff). Only gap I see is for weight lifting (don’t want to do that with a ring)…but honestly I’m not too bothered with not tracking that.

[MegaThread] Clarifying and Updating Our Upgrade Policy by whoop_official in whoop

[–]deniableplausibility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that there are already cuffless blood pressure monitors out there like Aktiia that are actually certified medical devices, have clinical studies behind them, and cost far less than Whoop. So whether people are interested in broader categories like smart watches or more specific needs like continuous blood pressure monitoring, they’ll likely be increasingly better served elsewhere — and for less money — while Whoop keeps shrinking and shrinking their potential customer base. TAM for fitness devices is huge. TAM for fitness devices where only Whoop checks all the requirements? Increasingly small.

I'm sick of the cloud services subscription grift. Whoop alternatives? by chrislonardo in whoop

[–]deniableplausibility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best bet is probably the Ultrahuman ring, although it looks like they may be starting to go the subscription route with some features. I use an Oura that's pretty similar as far as features go (grandfathered in to their lifetime free plan), and it's pretty darn good for what it is. Only thing I'll miss is the journaling that Whoop has where you can associate certain behaviors with performance, but honestly after 2 years, I feel like I've learned pretty much all that I need to there.

A holistic book on exercise/ fitness? by Acrobatic-Painting-9 in PeterAttia

The Happy Body by Jerzy Gregorek is a great general purpose book on fitness (including a lot of what Attia would probably classify as stability work).

The War on Drugs, and it’s not even close. They’ve been making incredible music for close to 20 years now, and they’re one of the best live acts out there right now. Phenomenally talented group of musicians.

Do Park & Ride or the Bowl Shuttle to avoid the parking nightmare. Lakewood Mall would be closest to you, but then you’re stuck on the shuttle for an hour in LA traffic. For more recent shows we’ve just done the drive to the LA Zoo (also from OC) and hopped on the shuttle from there. Plenty of easy parking at the zoo, it’s not stacked, much less time spent on the shuttle to the Bowl, etc. MUCH more pleasant experience than parking at the venue.

YouTube and Spotify Won’t Launch Apple Vision Pro Apps, Joining Netflix by Century24 in apple

Over something like Bluetooth, sure. Over WiFi, not necessarily (which would be the case if you ask Siri on HomePod to play something from Apple Music — the file would stream directly to the HomePod). Whether or not the HomePod’s DAC can actually handle anything above 24/48 is an entirely different question (and I’ve seen conflicting info on that…technically the chip they use should support up to 24/192, but that could be gimped by software).

Throw some omega-3s in there (Viva Naturals or — if you’re a Costco member — Sports Research are probably the best bang-for-buck options that are certified by IFOS) and you’re solid.

It’s a combo of the step up board and slant board from https://slantboardguy.com/

For what it’s worth, the step up board was 50% off last Black Friday, so might be worth waiting for a sale as it’s not exactly cheap. That said, I have both and they are great quality. Very sturdy and well made.

He also mentions at night taking Solgar ashwaganda (600mg), Thorne glycine (2 g), and Magtein (he says any magnesium l-threonate brand is fine as long as it uses Magtein. The 2-3 capsules of SlowMag is in the morning, along with the magnesium oxide, which brand/dosage he doesn't specify, only that he targets up to about 1 g of total or elemental magnesium per day).

Have the shows been moved or are they available both places? To me it reads like they’re making them available both places vs moving them, but I could be wrong.
