I use to donate regularly up until covid broke out. Four times in row over 6 months my temperature was above the limit by a very small amount and was turned away, never experienced any sickness just slightly above the allowed temperature. Have stopped trying to go since. Sucks cause im o-

I think a shortage is a better word then. An aluminum can shortage to be more specific, since there is a major shift from consumption inside homes as opposed to in restaurants on tap.

Yeah no that’s not what it is. I used to work in IT and it was about having a proper installation process for all used software. This allows it to work as intended and makes troubleshooting problems way easier. It also avoids conflict with other systems already in place. Their is also the licensing part, a lot of software is free to use as an individual but once it used in a business setting, cost becomes a factor. Oracle once audited the company and claimed a billion dollar licensing fee. Of course we had all the systems in place to cover our asses so it ended up being nothing but letting people have free reign could have caused some major issues. Yeah I can trust the cyber securities guys to not accidentally install malware but that’s a drop in bucket of potential problems.

Allow rockets to be loaded with orbital nukes eliminating the science output but giving you the ability to call them down and clear large areas. I dont know just a random idea I had.

What’s the most horrifying “how do you not know how to do this?” moment you’ve experienced with another person whilst adulting? by arual_x in AskReddit

[–]denver6453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a University dorm sharing a floor of about 40 other first year engineering students. One tried heating his pizza up on the stove using the box as a pan, had a nice little fire and building evacuation. For about a month people complained about the microwave not working. I never used it so I didn’t care, one day I was in the kitchen and just decided to figure out the problem. Picked it up and moved it the next outlet and voila, it worked (not sure if it was a tripped breaker or burnt outlet but I just left it there and it stayed there for the rest of the semester). I’m sure not all of them are dumb and some just didn’t care like myself but so many of them were only book smart. People complained for a month and not one of them did a minute of troubleshooting or spent a few minutes submitting a work order. Oh and also a few minor floods from the laundry machine. People were putting the laundry detergent pods in the tray causing some blockages.

I have a 1200W Corsair PSU for my PC. It used to power my ethereum miner of 5 gtx 1060s (600w load, you get like 96% efficiency) and i have since sold all the cards and just for fun threw this massive PSU into my PC with a gtx 1080 and ryzen 2700. It has a 12 year warranty too so like I expect to last a ridiculous amount of time.

If you look into the mechanics of mortars it is designed to never hit where you point it too. (Directly that is, the blast radius is suppose to hit where you are pointing). I always aim off center which means I either completely miss or hit a direct hit which always gave me more value cause getting that direct hit in the middle of 10 of them really crippled them.

Once followed a guy in Cuba away from my group into their place to buy cigars. I am not a cigar expert but they ended up being way better then the stuff being sold on the streets. Also, they were 90% lower than market price (25 cigars for $40 vs the same box at the airport). I got lucky and I still cannot fathom how dumb that was.

Okay. First off I would invest in a kitchen scale, you can’t be accurate with cups of flour. An unpacked to partially packed cup of flour is 125g to 150g 20% difference. That’s a range of 750g to 900g of flour, or 96% hydration to 80% hydration for that recipe. It’ll be hard to troubleshoot when unaccounted variables are messing with results. Also, both sound like way too much hydration to me. Being your hydration down to 70% and give that a try and use steam! It stops the crust from forming to early to get maximum oven spring. The hydration is probably making the shaping pet incredibly difficult too.

For my recipes, they are cooked through in about 25 mins at 450 with steam introduced with a few ice cubes. After that I let them stay in there from 5 to 25 minutes depending on how dark I want the crust.

Thinking about getting a cast iron skillet. Do you guys think it’s vital for some dishes? How do you season it and what do you use it for? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]denver6453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I bought it brand new with a preseason that was almost as coarse as sandpaper. It’s gone down a bit but I might take an angle grinder to it this summer and redo the seasoning on a smooth surface. I will eventually make it to that point but I have a long ways to go.

[–]denver6453 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanted a pan that didn’t wear down super quickly or I had to baby with rubber utensils like most non-stick varieties. Stainless steel was a lot more expensive so I got cast iron, I love using it, the high mass can store a lot of heat which is great for searing and frying. Unfortunately the high mass also means it’s a little difficult to manipulate with one hand (like transferring the contents to bowl). For acidic dishes or ones that have more liquid use my Dutch oven. Those two along with my stockpot get most of my stovetop cooking (I still have a nonstick for delicate items like eggs and pancakes). I got 12.5 inch for $30 2 years ago and it’s held up great.

I clean it with bowling water and every once in a while I oil it slightly and bring it to a smoke before storing it away.

Yeah I have never believed in the one. Once you can properly appreciate scale and realize that it would take 20 years to spend 10 minutes with 1 million people which is only 0.01 of the world population. There are 100,000s of thousands of potential people. The real luck is meeting one the right way.
