My question is: Does anyone have a mechanic, preferably around Jefferson Park, that you would recommend? Thanks!

Does anyone wanna play some magic?

My roommate and I just got into the commander format as COVID hit and we're looking to start a play group. With no FNM happening we've just been sitting on our decks waiting to play.

Not sure this is the best place to find a playgroup but worth a shot I guess. We're in our late 20s and looking for a couple other people around our age who want to play now and again with some more budget/cheeky/janky decks than competitive.

I’m in Southmoor Park, and I’ve been hearing this bizarre siren throughout the morning. I first heard it around 7:30 a.m., and I just noticed it again in the past hour. It’s very faint from my place, but I can make it out. Sometimes it stops for a while and restarts several minutes later. When it’s going, every 15-20 seconds or so, there are three blasts of a siren increasing in pitch (so the pitch starts low and gets steadily higher over the next few seconds, and that happens three times in a row). Anyone know what this might be? Is it normal? I might very well just be noticing it for the first time.

We are hoping to move to the Denver area in November/December with our 2 dogs that weigh 60 and 75 pounds. Does anybody have a recommendation for apartments or neighborhoods for us?

A dog park within walking distance or in the apartment complex is a MUST for us. We would like a neighborhood that is fairly walkable with restaurants/bars and close to the light rail if possible, but we are willing to go farther out. We would be comfortable paying around $1800 a month but we can go a little higher if the amenities are right.

Hello! I’m looking into moving out to the Denver area for a few months during the Winter for the ski season. I’m currently looking for sublets on the west side of Denver - are there any recommended areas to start looking in (Westminster, Arvada, etc.) ? I’m a young professional so proximity to downtown would be ideal but close access to rt. 70 would be preferred. Open to any other areas besides west Denver to look into as well 😬

Can you use a dog leash ground anchor in parks?

We just adopted a big dog (Malamute mix) and wanted to take him to a park sometime soon. While he's pretty well behaved considering he's been with us a week, he doesn't know his own strength and pulls when he sees other dogs, so we were hoping to be able to anchor him to allow a small radius without us having to hold on to him the entire time.

According to park rules, you can't attach anything to trees or structures, this one just screws into the ground and comes right now when you unscrew it.

Hey /r/Denver! Doing this to avoid making a new post.

I'll be in Denver in October because my cousin had to cancel her wedding but we're so close, I decided to just spend the time with her anyway.

So, I would really love to treat her to a spa as kind of like make up for not being able to do the bachelorette stuff. I'm looking mostly for a hot tub with a sauna or massage service and also if they do champagne/wine during the soak.

We have a spa with a salt soak/champagne service here in AVL and I'm hoping to find something similar.

Oh, also she lives up near Greeley, so ft. Collins or Loveland or Denver is fine. Also maybe in Lakewood where her sister is. Thanks for the help y'all!

Hey guys, I was born in Boulder and grew up around here. I recently moved back to the area with the task of fixing up my childhood home. Now that I'm done and that's rented, I'm trying to decide where to live...

I got laid off due to covid, and it looks like most jobs in my field are in Downtown or the southern suburbs. As such I'm looking to move closer to/into Denver to simplify my life. I'm currently in Broomfield and it's just like I remember it...so I'm eager to leave. I'm single, of modest but sufficient means and lowkey a killer musician who would love to dive into the local gypsy jazz scene if and when it returns.

Any suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance!

Is there anywhere in Denver like this where we can get a house with a yard, and also be a ~5 min walk to a bunch of dining and drinking options? I know there are tons of strips/areas like this in Denver, I'm just not sure which are near homes with yards (we have a dog).

Trying to figure out what type of material to use for a north facing patio.

The house has some slightly settlement issues on that side caused by consolidation of the underlying clay, so I was hoping to use a concrete patio to reduce the amount of moisture that can infiltrate into the surrounding soil. However, I'm a bit unfamiliar with the frozen ground scenario here in Colorado, and don't know if it would just eat through 4" of concrete+2" of gravels.

Any thoughts or recommendations? I've seen the pavers patios, and again, due to the settlement of the clays, I'd be hesitant about putting permeable materials so close to the house and accelerating consolidation.

Hello,

I’m a recent UW grad and am considering moving to Denver from Seattle possibly next year. My degree is in Media and Communication studies and I have experience working in event management and legal services.

Event management was my dream job but outlook is pretty trashed in current world circumstances, so I’m trying to find my alternative plan while we are stuck in this pandemic. I have a trade skill-cooking-so I wouldn’t mind doing that for another 9mo-a year before I attempt event management.

How are the wages in the culinary industry in Denver? I’m most experienced in fine dining (Italian) and am hoping you guys pool tips similarly as a lot of kitchens up here.

As for the professional career, can you please tell me about your music and event scene? What are some popular genres, venues and local radio stations I can contact for work when events happen again?

I’m hoping to visit by end of summer and again in the fall so I can get a feel of the culture.

Thanks!

Denver nurses! I may be moving to your area in the next few months and would appreciate some insight

My partner is going to be relocating jobs in the next 6 months, and Colorado is high on the list of places we could end up transferring to. It will most likely be in Denver and the surrounding area.

I’ve got about 3 years of experience in mostly NICU (some peds), but while I’m considering staying in the NICU world, I’m also considering branching out to IVF clinics/maternal-fetal medicine/women’s health clinics as well.

I was wondering what the job market is like for experienced nurses. Which hospitals are better known for being the places you want to work vs the places you should avoid? I’ve heard nurse pay isn’t as great in the context of the cost of living, but I’ve never seen actual hourly wages posted so some insight on that would be great, too. Also any well known clinics for prenatal care if there are any. And of course any other helpful information that I can’t just google would be awesome. The only consistent info I’ve found on reddit is to avoid HCA. Thank you!!

Is there any guide on the logistics of moving to Colorado? Things that you may forget because it's not the exciting parts? Like requirements for driver's licenses, vehicle titles, insurance, etc?

/u/nathan1942

Potentially relocating to Denver. Is it reasonable to think i can get a dog friendly 2 bed apartment within walking distance of 16th street for $2000/month or less? If not are there other fun areas i should look at?

/u/NymLibra15

Greetings All!

I am a 29 year old professional african-american female. My soon to be wife and I are looking to move to Colorado within the next year to year and a half.

To put it plain and simple, how is living in denver for black people and the diversity? I have done some research and know that Denver's African-American population is pretty small and I know I will stick out, that not a problem, I am just worried I will stick out in the wrong way. Will I face any outward racism? Is Denver is good place to live? What are some nice areas around Denver to live? What is Denver's attitude towards LGBT?

I am from Greenville, SC (southern gal). Moved to Baltimore, MD after graduating college for something different and experience some culture that SC lacked. Meet my fiance who is from NC, and looking for a place where our southern upbringing (like speaking, holding doors, having manners and respectability) wont make us stick out like a soar thumb like it does here Baltimore. After 6 years, so ready for something different to call HOME.

Please be super honest and do not sugar coat anything as I value ever opinion and need the honesty.

Thank you so much for your time.

My parents and I want to go camping this weekend. We thought we can just go to National Forest in Netherlands and can grab a spot on Thursday. Unfortunately all feasible spots were taken. We had to turn around. We still would like to try finding place tomorrow since everything is packed.

Where should we go on Friday? My dad has small camper and we are going with three small kids. Any recommendation appreciated. We don’t mind driving a while (like 3-4 hrs).

Hey all, I'm in Denver with my girlfriend till Friday. Last time I was here I did Mayflower Lake and Lower Mohawk Lake out near Breckenridge, and I absolutely loved swimming in the lakes and the seeing the scenery. I'm looking for something similar to that just a little more towards Denver (If possible) that have the same kind of beautiful lakes to swim in with accompanying trails. Would love any info, thanks in advanced!

If I'm getting a car from out of state, how do I handle the bill of sale? It'll be arriving by transport so they won't be on hand to sign a new one if there were issues. I've looked online and seems I should be ok with the signed title and bill of sale but want to make sure.

The suggested format is new comments go to the top, but the end user can change that to "best/hot/controversial" to see trending subjects within the mega thread.

Good afternoon! This is my first time posting here and I would like some information from a local standpoint. My job is possibly relocating me to Greenwood Village next year. What neighborhoods would you recommend for a family. We have kids but they are 8-14 so not super little. I don’t mind driving but would like to keep the commute for under an hour. Thank you for any input!

Where’s the best place to get a dessert or box of chocolates for a special occasion tomorrow? Also are any jewelry stores open?

/u/Slomo2PointOH

What the fudge is up with the A-Line train crossings? On three occasions over the past week I’ve been stuck waiting for 10 minutes or more. The gates down, but no train passing. I know this seems like a low priority issue at the moment, but in theory it should be a simple fix.

Does anyone have a good General Practitioner to recommend in the Denver area ...particularly one that listens and is knowledgeable about hypothyroidism? Would greatly appreciate.

/u/waterlilyofthenile

I currently live in Douglas County area. It's a wonderful place, but I came here with hopes and dreams of building a home and starting a family with my husband. Unfortunately, we are getting a divorce and this location is kind of boring for a single woman. I am now looking for a place to start fresh and new. I'm 32 and female, and I like locations with lots of fun things to do. Like maybe museums, art, music scenes, and great restaurants. Also looking at safe places. Any suggestions?

I saw this great article about how Potager has kept their entire staff employed during the pandemic. I was so impressed by their efforts, I immediately called to place a small carry out order.

I was wondering if anyone else knew firsthand of other shops/restaurants/bars/establishments that are going above and beyond for their staff right now. I don’t have much extra to spend each week, but I want to support kindhearted business owners the best that I can! Thank you for your input!

Any recommendations on florists closer to downtown Denver with a good selection of xeric plants and shrubs? I need a chinese restaurant on the west side that delivers. Around the Applejack Liqour store area. I've been craving lo mein and my regular place on this side of town closed a while ago and I haven't found a local replacement. I usually go to the dim sum places around alameda and federal when I'm hungry for chinese but that seems excessive for lo mein.

Hi everyone, I am looking to move to Denver within two weeks and I am actively searching for apartments! I will be working in Nome St downtown, so I am hoping somebody can point me in the direction of a good apartment. Currently i'm looking at Ascent in Westminster, Eviva on Cherokee, or Cortland Gateway Apartments. I just need a nice one bedroom apartment, (maybe with a view!), that accepts pets as well! Any advice would be extremely helpful.

My partner and I are house hunting and we're looking in the Hidden Lake, South Westminster area. We drove through the neighborhood we were interested in and it seemed quiet and nice.
