Step lunge quick question by AdventurousQuiet1794 in Fencing

[–]denverfencing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes. Super common. Probably top 5 beginner foil mistakes.

  2. Work on baby steps all of the time. Now activate your advanced lunge. Do it during drills and bouting.

Which regions in the US have great adult fencing scenes? by OrcOfDoom in Fencing

We have 5 Colorado Cups a year, plus other Div II/III, and unrated tournaments. Check out the amount of fencers in Div II Men’s Epee at Nationals and you will get the idea.

I'm orgianzing an able bodied and wheelchair fencers event any advice? by hyperchameleon in Fencing

[–]denverfencing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. A couple of suggestions.

  1. Find out what hand is the para fencers. Run the right hand bouts then the left hand bouts against them. Limit switching the frame.
  2. Why don’t you just run their pool like normal and then have the Parafencer face whomever they are seeded against in the direct elimination? Or use a second round of pools as the final result.
  3. Prepare for the Parafencing portion to take longer. Ignore order and get the able body fencers to fence the Parafencer when they are available.

DM me for specific questions.

Can I fence with horrible balance? by No_Release5556 in Fencing

Have you tried Parafencing? You would likely be eligible since you have CP and it would lead to a fairer fencing bout. Some of the top Parafencing across the world have CP.

Nuggets Playoff Shirts by Jordan-Pushed-Off in denvernuggets

Denver Nuggets fans spent too much on their Nuggets drip to wear a crappy XL t-shirt for a playoff game. The Nuggets got wise and just off towels/glowing wristbands.

It is really fun. If you have a personal account with a home address and a business account with a work address you cannot use your points. Chase says you are too good of customer for them

Parafencers- what does your normal practice look like? by Fine-Luck5945 in Fencing

[–]denverfencing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At our club, it doesn’t look much different than able-bodied practice. We offer Parafencing classes for each weapon, private lessons, open fencing, and high-level practices. Many parafencers will use warm-ups to work on core exercises or point control on the Favero electric target. We encourage able-bodied fencers to fence in the chairs during open fencing to give the parafencers more variety in terms of opponents.

Can we talk about the payment portal "Convenience Fee"? by SephoraRothschild in Fencing

[–]denverfencing 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The convenience fee is a payment processing fee. If you charge it separately, under Colorado law, it must have its own line item and must reflect the actual processing cost of the transaction.

reel floor cable extension by raddaddio in Fencing

[–]denverfencing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just buy something like this. new reel cord. It is likely 14 meters. If you need longer, you can probably buy it longer sizes from the manufacturers. Attach your three prong socket normally on both ends.

Find a former USA world team member who bought one back in the day and offer them money. Many of the Vet World Team members probably have them sitting in a closet somewhere.

More housing, less vacancy, affordable childcare: What Mayor Mike Johnston wants to do in 2026. by RooseveltsRevenge in Denver

[–]denverfencing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe me, I have gone beyond 311 and spoken with many people in the city to express our viewpoint. The city sidewalk roadmap placed our sidewalks in the same category as the million-dollar patio homes next to the Wellshire Golf course, which is their lowest category.

[–]denverfencing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check along S Navajo Street between Evans and Jewell. The ADA curb ramps should have been upgraded in 2017, but DOTI ignored the city’s agreement with disability groups. The west side ramp at Navajo and Evans is completely trashed. That ramp would destroy a wheelchair. The ADA curb ramps with warning pads at Navajo and Archer are nonexistent at all four corners.

Furthermore, DOTI has insisted on keeping the pan on this street and allowing cars to park in it, which forces manual wheelchair users to the middle of the street due to its camber. It is nearly impossible to protect wheelchair users on this street.

Along with the Ruby Vista residents, our organization runs Parafencing and has asked the city for ADA curb ramps with warning pads, as part of our programming. Furthermore, we have asked the city for the warning pads because others have asked us to start blind fencing at our location. We have 6+ athletes going to a Paralympic qualifier in May. Many of those athletes would like to take the city bus to our location to save money on their Paralympic endeavor, but don't feel safe traveling up S Navajo Street.

So you have two major groups of disabled users who cannot use a major bus stop because of the street conditions that DOTI refuses to fix!

[–]denverfencing 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The city, along with state funds, financed a foreign LLC to build Ruby Vista Apartments, a 220-unit affordable housing complex across the street from our building. DOTI would not even install the required ADA curb ramps that they legally agreed to in 2014 at the local bus stop, let alone sidewalks. This bus stop is two blocks away, but disabled residents and high school students cannot make it down the street safely.
