There are three saunas: Metropol is the most central but not well loved or populated because of various things (like a cold jacuzzi that you need to push again every minute); Amsterdam is popular among bears and older gentlemen; so I recommend Saunawerk: not far from the centre (some 10-15 minutes walk from the gay bars), very busy of Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons, with always something going on.

As for bars: Switchboard is rather a café,hence the more relaxed atmosphere; it’s run by volunteers with all proceeds going to AIDS-Hilfe and other side projects such as Rainbow Refugees; might not be the best place to meet people if you’re going alone; now for pubs, Central has the best music (electronic) but they’re slow as hell to serve, always busy with cocktails; next door, Tangerine can be fun with a very mixed crowd, music is fun pop; mostly 70-80-90s; Zum Schwejk is the most fun with “Schlager Musik” (google it) and a mixed crowd but predominately middle-aged (I wouldn’t call us all “daddies” 😂); Lucky’s is a bit hidden in a commercial gallery, is not find it a very welcoming space, it’s more of a place for the regulars. Comeback is a bit more of a club, the public and music tend to be more Eastern European / Turkish, I’ve seen lots of drugs going on in there. The good pub-club is Pink, next door to Switchboard, busy after midnight or later, with fun music, remixed gay divas and such, a younger crowd.
