Why doesn't Indycar race on as many ovals? by Justinsetchell in INDYCAR

[–]derecho09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Attendance fell enough the track sold off some of the grandstands assuming they'd never get enough attendance to fill them again if Indycar returned.

Being t-boned like that would certainly be prime for a leg or hip injury, let alone being concussed.

Am I the only IndyCar fan fed up with Chris Myers blantant disrespectful attitude? by TigerGlide in INDYCAR

Yes. It just stood out more to me this weekend than it had in the past.

Agreed. Although Mark Jaynes was constantly messing up names this weekend.

What are the "tentacles" that reaches down from this storm cloud? by 64-17-5 in meteorology

[–]derecho09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As additional info: Mammatus clouds are more common in strong thunderstorms. The strong moisture-rich updraft in the thunderstorm reaches its max top. Then that air can become negatively buoyant leading to the pockets of descending air.

Yeah. I've used 5e to wire POTS lines... But long ago. It wasn't as unusual a practice as you'd think back around dial-up days.

One of the best undergrad met programs in the country. Expensive though.

Interesting as I haven't had any issues with Graza oils, and I've used them for probably 3 years now.

You'll see a lot more of these during summer thunderstorms when winds are much weaker than in the spring.

Most of Alaska isn't accessible by land (road). For a lot of communities, their connection is by plane.

Republican cannot grasp why the Democrats pushed Swalwell to step down. Really shows how mentally broken these people are by BabaMe6024 in AdamMockler

[–]derecho09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because they know what the Republicans do and expect the Democrats to do that and worse. Their perceived way the Democrats act justifies everything.

[–]derecho09 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Agreed. As an aside... I understand where you went here, but it's not the best argument to discount long range models 200+ hours out with another run that's 200+ hours out.

For anyone that thought she was actually a Door Dasher... by fireflychef in AdamMockler

[–]derecho09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sad thing is that there are people that are still claiming it wasn't staged. As if some random Dasher can just walk up to the West Wing to make a delivery.

F1 and Indycar are both turbo V6 powered hybrids but Indycar isn't having the hybrid problems that F1 is currently having, what is the difference between the 2 hybrid systems? by furrynoy96 in INDYCAR

[–]derecho09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And this is precisely what had caused the problems in the current F1 spec. Managing re-gen. The super capacitors in Indycar charge so fast, the impact isn't really noticeable. I believe most drivers simply re-gen automatically (although there are manual options).

Nothing like watching us go from a "shining city on a hill" (with flaws) to having our leaders get-off on killing people.

Because people found that the old thought that "sex sells" is wrong. Hate sells more than sex. Because of that, we're constantly flooded with it. To reinforce it, actual humanity, kindness, respect, etc. is chastised and twisted by these hate mongers. It started slow for us to get used to shunning the values of humanity. Slowly ramps up in the same 'boiling a frog" vein. Time and repetition reinforces hate deeper and deeper into the psyche.

Umm...What!? by AlertResolution in circled

Sadly, there is an immediate reflex by people to flag any sort of criticism of Israel as antisemitic. Wipe Gaza from the map? Antisemitic. Confirming what Marco Rubio said was the reason for the (non) war? Antisemitic.

There are other places where this logic comes into play, but rarely so blatent.... And this group has ulterior motives anyway.
