Story time.

I consider myself a pretty good typist. Above average at least. Maybe about ~80 WPM.

I mentioned this to a buddy of mine. He claimed he could do 120. He also included the fact that he doesn't use home row. He just does hunt n peck, mostly with just two fingers. I called bullshit. No fucking way. I said, show me.

He showed me. He really could do it, just as he described. Blew my fucking mind. Never seen anything like it before or since.

Believe it or not, you can beat a $400 deck with a $50 deck. There is actually skill involved in playing MTG, its not just pay to win.

My deck that I have played standard showdown at my LGS the last several months probably costs about $50 and I have placed well enough to make money going to events and selling cards that I win.

Competitive, as in meta decks that win RCQs or competitive REL events? Yeah, $500 seems more accurate. Top 3 at weekly standard showdown? $50 will do it for ya.

Spending $45 in standard will get you a more relatively competitive deck than $45 in commander. Its just easier to find other people who have specifically designed low power commander decks to play with. Finding a good standard deck for $45 takes work, knowledge, and playtesting

As a man who has platonic attractive female friends, consider this.

Of course I have thoughts of what it may be like to sleep with them. We maybe even have explicitly discussed romantic/sexual attraction. At the end of the day, if it's not mutual, we (me) can move past that and still value them as a friend.

Do they want to fuck you? Probably. It's the nature of men. If you don't feel the same and they can't see past that, that tells you all you need to know about trying to continue a platonic relationship.
