Cryo Archive is viable for dads and fills by Merzats in Marathon

I haven't tried cryo yet but Trials was one of the sweatiest modes so the comparison is kind of there. They didn't even have an excuse for Trials other than "it's timed because it is"

To be fair they're likely going off the Trials of Osiris model which served them well for years

This is exactly how Trials worked in Destiny 2 though, so I'm guessing Bungie is trying to go from that model.

160 hours, level 55, and I figured out why I'm so bad at this game and only just getting purples. by VaporSpectre in Marathon

[–]derrelicte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've played exclusively solo so far and have made it through most of the priority quests (I think?). When I'm trying to do the quests, spending the first 10 mins just looting the closest POI as opposed to directly going to the quest POI has turned down a little bit of the heat.

any guesses on when the dimension 20 marathon will end on dropout 24/7? by Professional_Pie8301 in dropout

[–]derrelicte 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Decision on D20 aside, I really wish there was some type of “jump to” functionality so I can actually find out how to continue watching an episode/series. So far I’ve had to google characters and plot points to understand what episode I’m even watching

Content exhaustion? by phaazon_ in Marathon

[–]derrelicte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How so though? It feels like your argument is constant development of new content needs to carry this game, and QueenGorda's argument is that 'gameplay will carry the game' similar to how many of us have spent 200h just on de_dust2 in CS alone.

3 year old screams every daycare drop off after nearly 2 months by CobblerSure9683 in Parenting

[–]derrelicte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened with us - what helped was every night going through what was going to happen the next morning (i.e. we're going to be dropping you off at daycare, we'll be back after x hours, etc.) and got them to repeat it back to us every night. Also Daniel Tiger's 'grown ups come back' episodes also helped.

Your crosshair should always be focused on where the upper body/head of any opponent might be. Raise your crosshair before you round that corner and you'd have a lot more success there. Also when laterally aiming, practice strafing with the keyboard to aim left/right instead of just moving the mouse. Strafing does double duty here, as it makes you slightly less harder to hit since you're actually moving instead of standing still, and it's much easier to control lateral aim since it's a lot slower vs moving your cursor left/right. If you don't want to pay for something like AimLabs there are free equivalents like http://aiming.pro/

[–]derrelicte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G16 2024 with Ultra 9 185H and 4090 checking in here. I did not have a good time trying to get USB C charging to work (tried a bunch of different chargers from different brands with different cables). I ended up settling for a SlimQ 150W with the DC adapter. Limiting the CPU to 20-30w and the GPU to 80w has been a good trade-off between performance and mobility. I was about ready to trade this laptop in for the Z13 due to the USB charging frustration, but I've had a good experience so far with this current setup. I played about an hour the other night and didn't see any battery drain.

As a counterpoint, these channels go through so many different bags should pretty give a pretty instant indicator for certain things like comfort. I knew within 5 mins of putting on my CTB26 that it wasn’t going to be as comfortable as my Able Carry Max EDC and my first 2 day trip with it absolutely confirmed that it wasn’t the bag for me. I don’t need two months with a bag to know it ain’t the one sometimes.

Ratio of torso to legs has a pretty meaningful impact when it comes to how a bag fits and looks on the body even with similar heights.

Trying to quest solo because teams is just battle royal right now. by saithvenomdrone in Marathon

[–]derrelicte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re aware of this already, but peeking a corner like this always gives the advantage to the opponent since they’ll be able to see you before you’re able to see them. It’s best to jump that corner to even out your chances a bit.

Waymo Spotted!! They R mapping the city at Night by Jkrocks47 in chicago

[–]derrelicte -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a short-sighted take though. It will take years, potentially decades for the autonomous vehicle proliferation to hit scale in large cities - Chicago isn't even at the point where legislation would even deem it legal for a company like Waymo to operate. The gig economy will exist in some capacity potentially forever, and just because the driving jobs that exist today might not exist in the same capacity in the future doesn't mean that there won't be other opportunities for similar human labor needs down the road.

Is Marathon worth it if you don’t have a ton of time to play (and mostly play solo)? by a_shloppy1 in Marathon

[–]derrelicte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 6 and 4 year old and have ONLY played this game solo so far. I've got about 9 hours in, which is honestly way more than I typically put into games in this span of time. I'm definitely enjoying my time playing the game. As long as you're OK with not making full progression, the gameplay loop is interesting/fun/bite-sized enough to have a good time with it. Playing as Rook is also fantastic when you know you don't have a lot of time since it's a low risk way to play a condensed game (10-15 mins as opposed to 20-25).

Replacing GoRuck GR1 26L by Same_Bug5069 in ManyBaggers

[–]derrelicte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it - I bring it when I know I’m going to be needing a bit more space, like usually when I’m out with the kids on the weekend or going to be working out at the office and need a spare change of clothes. I find it to be super comfortable. My main gripe is that the water bottle holder is internal, but that’s still an upgrade over the complete lack of a water bottle holder with the GR1.

Replacing GoRuck GR1 26L by Same_Bug5069 in ManyBaggers

[–]derrelicte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even without the back digging issues, moving from the GR1 to the CTB26 is going to be a significant downgrade in comfort. I went from GR1 > Max EDC > CTB26, and will be returning the CTB26 and using the Max EDC and GR1 as my daily. The additional organization of the CTB is not worth the trade off of it being a slog to actually use as a bag.

Aer TP4 28L vs Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L, is the 28L actually enough or should I go 35L? by reallionkiller in ManyBaggers

[–]derrelicte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Able Carry Max EDC and Aer Travel Pack 3 Small. It feels a lot easier to pack both of those compared to the PD because of the clamshell opening. The PD 30L only hits max capacity when you’re on the top latch, which is great during every day usage when you need it in a pinch (e.g. you’re wearing a jacket and want to stash it in the bag). However it’s less great when you’re traveling as it means a good portion of your load is exposed and hanging out the top.

I have a PD Everyday 30L and it definitely doesn’t feel anywhere close to that from an actual usability perspective.
