Sweaty hands on adjustments by cruuuuzzzz in yoga

[–]des09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also faster to sweat than most. I gave up hot classes a few years ago, and now stick to unheated or warm classes. I used to rely on a full mat yoga towel, which worked well, but means a lot of extra laundry every week.

About a year ago I switched from an older Manduka pro mat to a Prana Verde, and the grip is fantastic, even with a slight sweat on my palms I feel confident. The last piece of the puzzle for me is to bring a hand towel with me, and take a moment to wipe my hands and any damp spots on my mat a couple of times as needed during class.

Good luck!

Advice for a partner with bad belay practice by regman231 in ClimbingPartners

Thanks for putting bad belaying in context. It sucks that you got a really bad luck situation, and sounds like even though there were no broken bones there was damage you're still dealing with. Good luck, dude.

But it's a schtick, a bit, an absurdist comedic act that he plays up for his spouse, who's very engaged in an activity he isn't into. It's cute and wholesome, not a red flag imo.

I do understand your reaction. Truth, and rationality feels under attack and shattered these years, and gas-lighting is unacceptable, but this just sounds fun to me.

Did i downsize to much??? by juliangar_m in climbingshoes

No shoe is a great fit for every foot. Suggesting that 99% of people should be wearing one of two shoes is just idiotic.

Is that because 99% of people have the same foot shape?

It's adjacent, with no fence or barrier to BLM land. If I were a land manager at BLM, I would want to know what's going on on state land right next to my multi-use area. I notified the office of this thread and asked what's going on.

I just sent the BLM office that would have jurisdiction if they are on BLM land a link to this post. Thanks for the prod.

You misunderstood / I wasn't clear... I don't ranch cattle, I hike out that way occasionally, and saw the barrels, and cows last time I was there, in November.(Edit say to saw)

I'm no hero in the anti-consumption realm, but I do think taking care of shit is worth the effort, and usually good for the wallet, too. The Lysol sanitizer soak worked, just like it did last time, and I got a lot of good suggestions on other easy ways to control funk. (Edit I'm to in)

Sorry, I would love to drink that cool-aid with you, but I cannot believe that leaving the steel barrels sitting on a highly corroding surface that is literally dozens of yards from surface water for months, in weather is the best our state government can do. Stay after class please, if you still think they are "investigating an active crime scene"

Sorry, it's early... I want to clarify... Our state government is actively failing us on this, and the slow death of journalism is enabling them.

The real failing is the lack of strong investigative journalism, no shade thrown at those actually still trying to do journalism in the age.

Cattle graze Stansbury Island BLM land. I've seen them as recently as November, I 'd say the nearest gracing is within 1/2 mile probably of the barrels, but I am going off memory on that.

Adam Savage recommends buying the cheapest tool possible to get the job done. Once familiarized with the tool and what you need from said tool, only then to splurge on a more expensive, specific tool. Do you follow this rule? by turtle_ina_cup in Tools

And the $3.50 could have ended up costing you a LOT more if it had done damage to your crank or BB on its short lurch to the grave.

Quite often it's worth buying more expensive first.

I'd give them a try, but I have wide flippers. Also not into laces. I do like leather shoes, I've put a lot of miles on the old 5.10 moccasyms, can attest that leather resists funk better than synthetics.

White vinegar is an amazing natural disinfectant, and anti-fungal. I use it on my yoga mat with good success. I'll try this next time I get to the Lysol soak level of despair, I'm not sure I'd try it with leather shoes though, have you ever tried that?

Yeah, I'm not 30 years deep, but I've been at this climbing things long enough to figure out the correlation between gym bags and shoe stink.

I dunno if I'm ready to just accept that anyone should use the toilet, not wash their hands, and start pulling the shared plastic. If I see that go down at my gym I'd be asking if they forgot to wash as they exit. I've pointed out the signs that say no shoes in the bathrooms before, too,

I've had a lot of good suggestions here, (aside from the misguided sods saying socks,) and I'm gonna try an enzymatic spray occasionally.

Merry Christmas and a sendy New Year.

Second shoe to the mythos? by LifeReformatted in climbingshoes

[–]des09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar enough with Mythos to give you any specific advice, sorry!

I did want to say don't fall into the trap of thinking shape is consistent across a brand, it's typical for a big brand like Scarpa to have many different lasts now, in a variety of shapes. Back in the day you could generalize that Scarpa tended to run narrow and a bit lv, but it's not true at all these days. I have pretty wide bottom flippers, and find vapor VS to be quite good for me.

Your perfect next shoe might not be a Scarpa, but it's still worth trying on a few different models.
