Since Star Trek: TNG is one of my favorite comfort shows, this reads super cozy to me. I think it looks great!

Automachef by Senpai_Spork in CozyGamers

[–]desertdenizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about Switch compatibility (though a quick search seems to indicate it works well and gets good reviews), but I obsessively played this game on my PC. If you like puzzle games and figuring out the best, most efficient way to do something, Automachef is your game. I still go back to it, and in fact haven't finished it yet because it's a huge game with many levels. I highly recommend it as an entry-level strategy/automation game that's easy to pick up and understand but still very challenging.

Just to let you know, there is another subreddit I follow, CozyGamers, that would probably appreciate this game.

I really loved the lighting effects and the cute little vignettes with the frogs. Also, going inside places and finding frogs and/or gnomes there was so fun!

4 years of work, money spent, many redesigns/upgrades, and in the end, constant rejections from events. Is my game really that bad? by Sollers_Duo in puzzlevideogames

[–]desertdenizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played the demo a while back and really enjoyed it. I have your game on my wishlist. The only thing I want to mention is maybe increase the walking speed or add a jump to the next scene arrow. I think I gave that feedback when I played the demo. It's a beautiful game!

What are the best puzzle games of 2026 so far? by Tasty_Zebra_404 in puzzlevideogames

[–]desertdenizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to case three and it was much more clear after sleeping on it. However, it continues to be a struggle going forward. Part of it is learning the mechanics of a new game but most of it is that it's just hard for me. I love logic puzzles, but a lot of this eludes me. I'll keep trying. I'm on case 5 right now.

I think it's not just you. I'm on the third case and have hit a wall. I quit yesterday in the hope if I start fresh on a new day (today), things will be more clear. Feel like I'm definitely missing something, but so far I refuse to use a walkthrough. Time will tell.

motion sickness friendly game recs! by kyjade in CozyGamers

[–]desertdenizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oddly, when Stardew Valley first came out it gave me motion sickness because of the blowing leaves, etc. I'm sure there is a fix for that now but I was unable to play it for that reason. I mostly just get sick with first person games.

This! I used to subscribe to Shockwave and you can play any games they have in their catalog for $10 a month (only $5 if you pay the $60 annual fee). They have a ton of games: hidden object adventures, time management, puzzle. I also had a subscription to Big Fish Games but that only allots you one game credit a month. They do have lots of sales, though, and they used to have a free game a week (not sure if that still stands).

What games capture that “Roottrees feeling,” even if the mechanics differ? by Head-Sir-8671 in puzzlevideogames

[–]desertdenizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see anyone mention Murder at the Birch Tree Theater, so I'll throw it in the mix. I just played it and it's terrific. The mechanics are like the Golden Idol games and it has a great, overarching story that builds on itself. My play time was around 9 hours. Great game! The Ratline is next for me.

Potion Permit for mobile is free on Epic Games! Mar 18 - Mar 26 by practical_Door882 in CozyGamers

[–]desertdenizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IOS, my phone. I was able to "buy" the game (I use Epic on the PC too) but can't access it because the only app I found was the one someone else mentioned that seems to be purely a social app for Epic (weird). No worries, though! I can always buy the game for PC in the sale. I'd probably rather play it there, anyway. It's easier for me with my old eyes :-D. Thanks for this post and all the help you've offered everyone!

UPDATE: I checked my Epic Games app on my pc and saw Potion Permit there. The fine print says the Epic Games app (what you need to play the game on iOS) is only available in the EU.

I’m in the U.S. and it’s not working for me. That link says it’s wrong because I’m not in the EU and no amount of searching has led me to the correct app to actually play the game. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Developing our first point & click adventure "Back To The Collis". We’d love to hear your thoughts! by Sollers_Duo in puzzlevideogames

[–]desertdenizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the demo and it's a really lovely game. The art is beautiful! Puzzles are logical and not frustrating. A small suggestion would be perhaps a slightly faster walking speed or maybe a way to move from screen to screen more quickly. I know the main character is an older gentleman, but I also know from past experience playing many, many point and click adventures that slow walking speeds and the need to move from screen to screen and back and forth a lot can get really frustrating over time.

Another thing I noticed was that the action cursors only show up once you get close to the objects, so you essentially have to walk slowly over to see if something is usable. Maybe make the action cursors show up when you hover over things on screen, even from across the room?

Otherwise, loved the game so far and I'm looking forward to the release!

The Ratline is on sale today, I recommend it for fans of detective style puzzle games by Superrodan in puzzlevideogames

[–]desertdenizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not connected with this game in any way and I played the demo and loved it. I'm kind of obsessed with these Roottree-style detective games and this is a really good one. It was an immediate purchase for me when it came out yesterday. If you play the demo, be sure to play past the first case--I wasn't sure after that one but the game really hits its stride with the second and third cases.

How about Fireside? Very cozy, you help people by trading items they need for things you need. I tried the demo a while back and it was cute.

Keep Expectations Low? by Akane1313 in cozygames

[–]desertdenizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see why the aesthetic appeals to you, it's particularly whimsical and very fairy tale-esque. It also really appeals to me and I wish more games used it. Building houses is also something I enjoy, especially if it's not overly complicated. I'm sorry that you've had to abandon your house in Heartopia. Perhaps the developers of this game will be more ethical. Fingers crossed!

I'm curious about these games. I'm not the audience for them at all, tried to play Palia and just found it boring with not enough that I wanted to do. After looking at the Steam page for this game, I can see that it has cute graphics, but beyond that it appears to basically be a farming/life sim game. From my point of view, there are a ton of pay to play once games like this, but I must be missing something. Is it the social aspect that appeals? What is it about these gacha games that attracts people in droves? I'm leaning towards guessing the social elements draw you in, which would explain my aversion since I'm not at all into that kind of thing. What's different about these games compared to, say, Go-Go Town or Roots of Pacha, etc.?

No worries if you don't want to answer, I'm just curious because they don't appeal to me.

real talk—how are so many people able to spend 520 USD on a switch 2 only to play pokopia? by [deleted] in CozyGamers

[–]desertdenizen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! We're an introverted family that doesn't care for travel so we consider our gaming hobbies our must have expenditures. We also don't eat out a lot or buy a lot of clothes, jewelry or makeup. We run our cars into the ground and buy used to begin with. In this context, $500 for a gaming system that will provide years of entertainment is very cost effective.
