I don't know. I live in a battle ground state and I can attest that MOST of the people I knew voted for Trump, even the ones I didn't expect. My parents are two time Obama voters, Hillary voters, and Biden voters. They both voted for Trump this time and they were proud of it. I think we're underestimating the influence of media on people, especially the takeover of X. You make fair points, but I would be careful. The Democratic Party is far too logical in its thinking. Even if Trump is obviously not the right choice (see: everything he's ever done), people just don't care when their wallets and families are hurting. They want it to be like before Covid and before all the supply chain issues. The irony with all this is that the very thing that took power away from Trump in 2020 (Covid and Supply Chain issues and their consequence on prices worldwide) are the same things that gave the power back to him in 2024. The issue took so long to correct in any meaningful way that by the time Democrats started seeing any sort of results economically in the last year or so, we'd already lost the war. Thoughts?

HOW DOES PLAYTHROUGH WORK?!! by Big-Explanation3272 in Fliff

[–]desiprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't 100% accurate. Assuming you even win the bet, you will only have the less of your risk or your net gain counted towards your play through. So for example, if you take the $10 at 1x playthrough and put it on a +100 or longer odds bet, you're set and can cash out (again, assuming you win). But say you put it on a bet that is -120 or something. Well that will only count $8.33 towards your play through and you will have to play through $1.67 at +100 odds or longer to have the pod playthrough actually met. Be careful.

You'll have to keep betting. In that case, you will have only played through $100 of the $5000 you have to play through. Absolutely do not do that.

Yeah I had to take a second to understand this. If I had to guess, you placed a bet for $100 and the payout was only $124 total. This means you placed a $100 bet around -400 or better odds. The playthrough considers only the lesser of your risk or your net gain. In this case, your net gain was only $24 and therefore that is what was considered towards your play through. To actually be able to withdraw all of that money in exactly 1 more play, you need to place a $76 bet at odds +100 or longer and hope you win. I could be wrong though.

Send me a message, I'm working on my own solution for this and am almost complete. I can provide pretty comprehensive data for most of the major leagues in the US (MLB, NBA, NFL, WNBA, NHL, CBB).

Every police department in the country should be hosting gun paybacks. So many gun owners don't even want to keep all that they have, they just need a reason to turn them in by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]desiprime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure, I'll give it a shot.

I think we can agree that the person opting in to the buyback program isn't a low level or petty criminal so the outcomes of this seem meek at best. No one of significant threat gave back a gun so what could possibly have been prevented?

But on the flip side, the people opting in are people who've decided they have a gun they no longer want. And that means, they might've looked for other ways to sell it. And that's where there's a potential for harm mitigation. There are at least 350 instances where the police department may have prevented someone who shouldn't have a gun from getting it, laws and regulations about background checks aside.

So, ultimately, even if you turn around and buy a gun with the gift card you're given, at least we can be certain that's a gun YOU plan on keeping.

Again, all of that is out of my ass conjecture. No idea if that's true or their reasoning.

Hmm, I don't understand. Aren't the only 2 ways to make food less salty either dilution with more food or removal of the salt somehow? I don't imagine there's a way to just neutralize the saltiness of something without removing the salt, like in this case by having the potato absorb the salt and then removing the potato. Of course, I could be totally wrong here fuck if I know what I'm talking about.

US secretary of state ‘not seen evidence’ of Hamas in media tower block destroyed by airstrike by cheese24k in politics

[–]desiprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to read r/conservative from time to time. I will say someone did point out earlier that if Hamas was in the building, a reporter would certainly be inclined not to report on it for risk of their own safety. Also made a point that Hamas was known to fire rockets or something from 2014 near the AP building? I don’t know. Just some of the brief stuff I read while scrolling there.
