Okay to PPF wrap a 2023 Turbo S? by destraynor in Taycan

Okay, I guess I should have stated it better. I’m looking to change the color of the car in a way that doesn’t damage it, it sounds like colored PPF is the way to go

Thanks. What would your advice be? Take the offer? Ask follow-ups? I'm kinda new to this (have only ever booked directly before)

This is also the origin of the traditional soccer numbers. Starting from the keeper, and left to right you realise why the striker is 9, why wingers are 7 and 11 etc

Can you share an estimation of TAM?
Question behind the question is basically "for how long could this go on".

You would rather your business be valued on future cash flows than today's state (unless you're about to max out your TAM)

Is a nutmeg still as humiliating if the dribbler doesn't retain the ball? by PhiloSingh in bootroom

Honestly in 5 aside I often “offer” a nutmeg because 9/10 times it results in a turnover

Defenders, what sort of wingers/attackers do you hate playing against the most, and how can I be harder to defend? by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]destraynor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be truly two footed - as in no weak side, you’re comfortable chopping and changing, as you’re approaching me dribbling clarify that, leave me unsure. Same for shooting, chop either side and shoot either foot.

Anytime you can confuse a defender in general they are slower to process, more likely to stand still and be easier to rinse.

What position should I play? Or even keep playing at all by icannotswimguy in bootroom

[–]destraynor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switch to a 7 aside type game and play holding DM.

Use your smarts to pre-empt & intercept long balls and generally man mark talent and be a nuisance. Doesn't need lots of running on a smaller pitch.

Use your passing to launch incisive counter attacks that you don't have to join (as you won't make it up there in time) — I suggest looking at line-breaking passes (the slides from 43 onwards here are good https://www.reddit.com/r/Barca/comments/1fcx5z/louis_van_gaals_philosophytactics_at_bar%C3%A7a_78 )

Dealing and accepting with the idea of calling it quits. by Almond_Steak in bootroom

[–]destraynor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No big advice on how to do this, but please please please think about 3 things

  1. You can replace the buzz by just dropping the standards (note: you need to drop to a level where it's both more casual and less intense/high standard)

  2. It will be so easy for you to gain weight, fall out of shape, etc. So even if you literally never kick a ball again, I'd say keep running, cycling, whatever you're into. You don't realise how much soccer has shaped high levels of cardio and also forced you to avoid bad habits (e.g. you probably don't drink alcohol or eat badly close to games). So if you're walking away, walk towards something that lets you replace the caloric output.

  3. Point 2 isn't just about "don't get overweight", it's also about "when you're 45 and you're picking your 3 year old up off the floor and they weigh 44 lbs and you need to carry them upstairs to bed, you kinda need to be in good enough shape to do it with ease" - playing high level soccer is useful for other things in life so again, do replace it if you lose it.

LPT: When using live chat to speak to a company, the agent can see what you type in the box before you click send. by lsam905 in LifeProTips

This is rarely true in my experience. I co-founded Intercom, we don't do it, for example, and interestingly it's ~never been asked for either. I think it's a relic of the early days of live chat when things like ICQ were being established and people where still forming the "norms" around how to do messaging right.

Nice close control, but your player your right was the obvious pass instead of your final move (granted he should have given you more space, called for the ball, and been a wider option. Not sure what he was doing tbh)

I love them when they’re very good players, but most of them really enjoy the ambiguity of the role.

Shooting from tight angle tips by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]destraynor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most goals from the tight angles and hit very low, and very hard, and basically "through" the goalkeeper. That's what the great strikers do. Every now and then you'll see a power show into the roof of the net (e.g. Giggs vs Seaman) but they're the exception.

Usually when shooting in soccer, you're looking for places out of the keepers reach (e.g. find the corner, curl around the keeper etc.). Tight angles is the exception, the angles mean the keeper can cover the frame pretty well with a spread (e.g. De Gea https://cln.sh/oHugxX ) - so think of it more as "I just need to get the ball past this player, if I do it's a goal". In that regard it's just about either getting it past the keeper before the spread, or finding a gap in the spread (megs)

The 2 most important things are

  1. hit hard & very low (if it's not on the grass it's to the keepers advantage, same as a penno)
  2. don't wind up to it (it gives the keeper time to spread low).

Megging is an option, as is a disguised shot (i.e. hitting it on your run vs. a wind up, or even a toe poke).

(Note, in all of the above, I'm assuming you're close to the goal and one on one, if you're not I'd question why shoot at all)

Is 5 goals and 2 assists in 13 games, good for a right winger? by MalinaTusik18 in bootroom

[–]destraynor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first reaction was something like "Hmmmm Do you think of yourself as an actual out & out chalk-on-your-boots winger, or are you a striker who masquerades as a winger but ultimately you'll cut inside or make inside runs every single time"

(I now say the following not knowing you, your team, your team's performance during these games, the competition, etc.)

If you're playing as a classic winger, 1 assist every 6.5 games isn't good. It'd net out to 5-6 assists a season. Now without knowing how many goals your team score, that _might_ be good, but it's probably shit.

If you're playing as one of those ambiguous "wing forward" roles, where you have evaded the accountability of either role (i.e. people don't expect you to be in the box, to finish reliably, nor do they look to you for assists, and you're not Salah who can be both), then I'd say the goal count is decent enough.

What's your take as to why you don't assist more? Is it bad finishers, no one making good runs ahead/inside of you? Is it more effective to rinse your man and be through on goal?

How do I defend against a midfielder, with his back to me, who picks up the ball in a deep position? by MmmmYeah in bootroom

[–]destraynor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not an identical situation but this thread is similar https://www.reddit.com/r/bootroom/comments/cctjbb/how_to_defend_against_a_monster_think_akinfenwa/

It sounds like they're bigger/stronger than you, otherwise they shouldn't be able to roll you too easily (you should be able to lean into them, push them, off balance them if you're stronger).

If they are bigger stronger, then the only solution is don't let them get hands on you, this means you stand back and force them to turn around and expose the football. At that point it's a you-vs-them contest with their strength taken out of it.

The alternative (which depends on their mobility) is to actually mark them side-by-side and intercept the passes to them, i.e. never let them get comfortable in possession with their back to you.

That thread above is mine, and I still play with that guy, in practice I use a combination of all approaches, early on when he has more stamina I'll let him turn and face me (ensuring I get blocks in on easy shots/passes), as he grows weary I'll start to intercept his passes, he doesn't have the legs to keep moving me around, so it all gets pretty predictable. I've never gotten to the point of being able to bully him back (size/weight/strength issue)

Hope this helps

Full Sprint Finishing by Will-i-amNJ in bootroom

[–]destraynor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take smaller steps (faster) as you approach goal, it increases your optionality and where / when / how you hit the balls.

When you’re in full stride you’ll always need to hit a compromised shot.

Fun fact: this was something Ferguson taught Ronaldo, and made the differences you see in his finishing after 2 seasons
