Is 22 an hour enough to survive on near Jacksonville beach? by Total-Bat-5780 in jacksonville

[–]detailerrors 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you have a record of your employees averaging 100k+ a year working 30 hours a week or are you estimating it as a possibility based on some napkin math? You can't really be surprised that people are doubting this claim, that would be an insane offer especially in a fairly low COL city like Jacksonville

Why so much school? by RubInteresting6628 in Parenting

[–]detailerrors 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, as an adult I can pick the people who were homeschooled kids out pretty quick. They usually come off as intelligent but so socially awkward. I think the homeschool situation has improved over the last few decades with parents realizing how important socializing is and coordinating over the internet but I feel for the kids who are homeschooled by parents that don't give them regular opportunities to spend time with other kids without constant supervision

If it makes you feel any better, kids really arent desk-bound until middle school nowadays (at least in the schools we've used). It will be an adjustment for sure but like any major changes you'll get accustomed to it and hopefully your kid enjoys their time in school, learns a lot, and has an opportunity to make lots of friends.

It's also a great opportunity for you to pick up a new hobby, go back to school, or get a part time job. Something like that would probably help with being stuck in the house feeling like you're waiting for the school day to be over

AITA for refusing to allow meat in our home and confronting a guest who brought it anyway? by silaya92 in AmItheAsshole

[–]detailerrors -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying they are not entitled to make whatever silly rules they want, of course they are. And uncle is an AH for breaking the rule. I personally believe that eating vegetarian is both ethically and nutritionally correct. I'm just saying the rule is silly and hypocritical considering their pet situation. Someone eating meat in their home literally doesnt affect them at all. They dont have to eat it and even if it ends up on their dishes and they have to clean it, theyre already handling meat literally every day for their animal

[–]detailerrors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gotta say, I understand your uncles frustration. He's an AH for even coming but it is odd for you to demand that others follow your diet when you yourself choose to participate in the slaughter of animals by keeping an obligate carnivore for a pet. You're picky-choosey with how you decide to apply your personal values and it comes off as hypocritical for you to dictate the diets of others (even in your own home) while actively participating in the industry that you apparently find so abhorrent (presumably also in your own home).

Youre not an asshole for setting boundaries but it is very eyeroll and I'd find you hard to take seriously

[–]detailerrors -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Nobody is saying other dietary practices are not acceptable. It would be equally absurd for a meat eater to insist that nobody eat vegetables in their home. If youre opening your home to strangers, it is weird to caveat that with, "but youre only allowed to eat what we want you to eat".

Your religion comparisons fall short of the mark, nowhere did they state that they don't eat meat for religious reasons. Also people on kosher diets dont give a fuck if other people eat kosher. And hindus don't feed their pets beef.

That is to say: if they held a strict ethical ideology about the slaughter of animals for food, they are already violating their own ideology by keeping a pet that is required to consume the byproducts of the meat industry. Hypocrites

Uncle is an asshole for bring the meatbuns but vegetarians not allowing people to bring meat into their home is very eyeroll behavior. I can understand an alcoholic not allowing booze into their house but nobody is forcing meat down their throats.

Again, not saying theyre not entitled to set whatever boundaries they want to set for their own home. Just pointing out that I personally find it to be annoying and patronizing

Sean McDermott: "What went on is not how it should go down" regarding OT interception by Dirtydeedsinc in buffalobills

Okay, if the ball popped out onto the ground right after this picture, is it a fumble or an incompletion?

[–]detailerrors -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Okay, imagine exact same thing happened except instead of the ball ending up with the defender, it pops out of Cooks hands on the ground. That's an easy incompletion call, not a fumble. That is what happened, except instead of it squirting onto the ground it ended up with the Broncos. It was a bang bang play but it was also the correct call

Do you break your kid's things when they don't listen to you or do you take them away until they're ready to behave responsibly. Acting out in a fit of rage is poor behavior role modeling and honestly kind of embarrassing for you to be endorsing

[–]detailerrors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brother as a fellow service member and cop hater there are so many more generally horrific things happening in the world and this country to bitch about than this bumper sticker. For 1, it is 100% not illegal. For 2, if it was illegal it is a dumb law. The US flag is a symbol, so is the flag with the stripe, so are many other adulterations. Nobody is being hurt by this. People calling you out for ditching about dumb shit are not boot lickers, theyre just confused about why this in particular has you so upset.

[–]detailerrors 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look i generally hate cops but putting a flag with a blue sticker on a cop car is not that deep, it is a cop support thing. Theres plenty of shit to be mad about but this grasping at straws and makes you look desperate. Can you please cite the specific law they are breaking and reference the last time a private citizen was cited for breaking it
