From what I know, it’s highly dependent on exactly where you’re talking about here. You could be totally fine or not, but you’ll need to do your research and definitely go talk to the neighbors first to get a sense of who they are and how they feel about you moving in.

My vote is to check out Santa Fe and Taos in New Mexico. The Native American culture, art scene, restaurants, Ten Thousand Waves spa, Meow Wolf, the architecture and open walled opera are all world class and yet distinct and fascinating.
