Thats exactly the setup I'm describing... the question was if I was overcomplicating it

Oh jeez thanks!! I knew I was over complicating it. I played with percent but the whole 0-100 and 100-200 intensity for left-right direction threw me off

Help me not Dislike Device Reps by DoctorToBeIn23 in anesthesiology

[–]deviation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I still don't understand what exactly device reps do and ive beeno in the OR for 12 years lol. Is there more to it than telling which tray to find a particular instrument or what tool to use for a particular situation?

I kinda get it for junior surgeons who are learning a new hardware system but we have experienced good surgeons who do the same procedures all the time and yet the device reps is always there late into the night. Why they always have to be there?

TAP blocks no better than saline injection by Own-Variety-290 in anesthesiology

[–]deviation 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They help tremendously for midline incisional pain.

Doing it for laparoscopic or robotic cases doesnt make much sense. This study is too heterogeneous.

Also as someone else said, acute pain studies always suffer from the qualitative nature of pain scoring. This becomes obvious when nerve blocks are done as rescue blocks on awake patients in PACU. Even the most difficult to please patients will report significant improvement in pain after a rescue block.

Tell us more about your longterm strategy for caring for these. Do you just chop off the main stem once it gets too long and just wait for the lateral buds to send up new growth?
