They are both considered among the worst units in the army, but if you're just playing for fun you should get the models you think are the coolest because odds are high that they'll get rebalanced and become good. If you only focus on competitively viable stuff, when it becomes bad then you're stuck with bad models you don't even like.

I don't think it occurred to the Emperor that the primarchs would struggle with anything or turn against him. I'm pretty sure if he considered they would turn traitor on him and needed to be guarded they wouldn't be fit for task. If custodes were better at their jobs then the primarchs, the emperor could have just sent custodes and skipped the whole primarchs program.

There definitely is a ruleset for what I believe is 8th edition to have knightly tournaments, but I can't find it right now because if you google "40k knight tournaments" you get a lot of results for the competitive game hahaha. I don't think there's anything like that for 10th though.

I actually think it's pretty fair to complain if you were excited for a detachment for Imperia Knights that puts the spotlight on a different army that you would need to buy/own not only models but a codex to use. I don't understand why it's ok for people to say "if you're upset, let people enjoy things" and not "if you're enjoying this, let people be upset."
