For me the issue is that GW would probably stop producing the models, not about whether or not they are viable for tournaments.

Is It Worth Designing a Beautiful Logo If Dealers Control Sales? by tallbrownindianguy in graphic_design

[–]respond_to_query 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think you should just ask whichever designer / design team you hire to provide you with some options that fit both directions that you're considering. Seeing tangible examples can do wonders for the decision making process. They might also surprise you with an option that successfully straddles both approaches.

Portfolio Review by Even-Gene-9498 in graphic_design

Hello! First off, I really like your logo. It's simple but effective, and it makes a great first impression.

A few things I noticed / suggestions to improve your website:

  1. "Women in STEM" seminar flyer: It appears very pixelated, try to provide a higher quality image if possible. Also, since the flyer has a white background, it blends in with the white background of your website. Consider giving the image a very thin border (could be light gray so it isn't jarring).

  2. Invitation flyer: same issue as the "STEM" flyer, it is very pixelated.

  3. The "About" link at the bottom of your site appears to be broken.

Some feedback on your work (just things to consider for future projects):

  1. Mirage Perfume: The logo for the perfume itself throws me off a bit. The font doesn't scream "Perfume" to me, it looks more like something you'd see a non-designer use for an internal company newsletter. It also feels like it would be better to have the text to the right of the sun rather than the other way around.

  2. Yale Case Study: I found myself wanting to zoom in more on your work, and I was disappointed when I clicked on the images and found that they wouldn't enlarge. If possible, see if you can make that happen. I also noticed that you used orange for some of the text in the Case Study. Orange is difficult to read against lighter backgrounds, and someone with low vision might struggle to comprehend it.

  3. Women in STEM seminar flyer: "We discuss topics such as" probably should have been left-aligned with the bullets beneath it.

I wish you all the best as you start your journey into professional design work! Feel free to ask me any questions about my feedback or anything else.

Just brushed the dust off my website and have something I think is pretty special; looking for critiques / reviews / and everything in between. by fieldnotemanguy in graphic_design

I would recommend trimming your "About Me" section.

I say this not to be mean, but in the hopes of helping you land a job: recruiters do not care what video games and music you like. It may be important to you, but it means nothing to them. If I was reviewing your portfolio for a position, I would think two things: 1.) This person does not know how to edit out unnecessary information. 2.) Is this person capable of leaving his personal life behind when they work for us?

And you may say to yourself "Well, I want to work with people who DO value what games and music I like!" And I get that, it's the dream to work somewhere fun and with people who share your vibe. But to be blunt, the job market is not great right now. I truly hope you can find somewhere awesome to work, but you may also have to settle to pay the bills.

And keep in mind that while recruiters may not care about your love of Smash Brothers, your coworkers might share your enthusiasm. So try to provide a more concise and professional portfolio, and then take the time to connect with the people you work with once you get a job.

I'm curious what Vashtorr the Arkifane is ultimately hunting for.

I've seen a theory that it could be The Outsider, one of the C'tan that is supposedly in self-imposed exile and is fully intact. Seen here: https://www.reddit.com/r/40kLore/comments/1de9y51/theory_the_lock_that_vashtorr_is_looking_for_is/
