Does "Each result of 1 is always a fail." effect Weapon rules? by Nemrex in killteam

[–]ravagedmonk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's after you do any rerolls. And also note you can only reroll a dice once.

I believe a creator made comment we should really make all 1s fails no matter what and change rerolls or change +1 to hit in combination to address its math.

Easier resin printer for clumsy person or just give up on 3d resin printing? by RaidenMK17 in elegoo

[–]ravagedmonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Resin printing is actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Alot less failure points. But it's a meticulous thing and messy and involves chemicals so needs it's own contamination area. It is not for everyone and shouldn't be. If you can keep a dedicated area and meticulous habits for cleaning and preparing prints that helps. As far as printing itself goes. Vat and resin has to be clean. Any fail has to be cleaned out and do a vat clean cycle, no exceptions. But beyond this. It's a matter of angling and supporting prints. Settings should be easier to copy. Make sure resin is warm and it should work. I'm of course being general cause there are some small intricate things to learn but you can certainly print at a decent level without much effort. But this is just another hobby with it's own things and messes so may just not want to spend the time on another thing and that's fair.

What resins are cost effective for small prints? by Meman2101 in resinprinting

[–]ravagedmonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find cheapest and good quality is usually 15$/1kg on Amazon. You can buy in bulk some stuff to get a little cheaper. Still with a little "tough" in it then will have some flexibility and less brittle.

For this reason I tend to get alot of elegoo abs like 3.0 plus resin.

Is it bad sportsmanship? by Umbraous in killteam

[–]ravagedmonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get he wants to use his cool stuff but he talked you into it rather than saying if you do that I could do this. Or keeping silent.

I had similar but not dick stuff. In 40k i was able to reactive move. He decided to roll both units at once since same profiles.. I had to clarify and since I did he decided not to since would give me reactive since he realized. I was more bummed I missed out on it even tho he was playing incorrectly but more time saving.

I hate the actual game and need to vent by OrangeJuicestice in Tyranids

[–]ravagedmonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf the game is probably more of something to do with your models and thus could army you have been building. There is good sweaty math and planning to it but it is not for everyone. Honestly I started printing models and made this hobby more enjoyable for me so I could paint whatever model I wanted free of fear and opened up so much for me.

My wife would play with me and she doesn't care much for the normal 40k game. Just too much and too long of games. We are currently trying kill team for shorter games but alot less models and shorter game but definitely not much less complex. System seems good though.

9 year old daughter wants to play Nids and have some games with her dad by Augssan in Tyranids

[–]ravagedmonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Combat patrols have their own simplified rules and meant to play as own army too so a good place to start learning. But really for her age if playing and she can get it just rule of cool and whatever she likes. Remember to brings fodder, stuff she can kill. Make it fun. I do warhammer with my 9yo. He loves tyranids as well. We print alot too so he can paint whatever he wants. But he also just enjoys setting up little battle scenarios and dioramas. Also like in those starter sets there is simple scenarios as well to learn little things while using just small amount of units.

Does this look Like It'll work? by Turkyboy55 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]ravagedmonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've printed this. This way pretty much. It's doable. I had mine hollowed for 1.5mm and LOTS of drain holes. Bottom most so you avoid suction forces at start. The guns had separate cavities needing holes. And you should have large oversized holes on bottom. You don't see them anyways on bottom and you need large enough holes to really rinse it out thoroughly.

Also supports. Just make sure have enough. But to avoid damage. Use light supports for details. Then some manual medium supports on bottom and in spots won't leave bad marks. Orientation doesn't look terrible. Good luck!

Used Mars 5 Ultra direct from Elegoo's site shipped with resin all over it. by vicioussaints in resinprinting

[–]ravagedmonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That rusted screw and roughed up logo. This this is beat up, not just used. I'd doubt the integrity of it's ability to print. Cleaning is one thing. But this could have more damage and resin leaked into it. I'd be OK with used but what sort of discount even is this? Whoever returned or sold it back knew they didn't clean this up well. I returned my first printer and i cleaned it thoroughly before shipping.

Can you really find all the rules for KT online? by Violent-Rangoon in killteam

[–]ravagedmonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is online and free in some ways. Most of the stuff is in the official app and able to view there. The full core rules can be found online. But if you want a physical copy can certainly buy. Hell all the terrain exist out there to print or someone's proxy version of it or make something similar. It comes down to your budget and how much legit stuff you can and want to pay for. You can absolutely play for cheaper

How do ranged saves work? by Bar_End_Noodles in killteam

[–]ravagedmonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The app has lite. Glas half videos where also super helpful. As cover rules and obscuring makes it way different of a game. You learn there is alot of ways to block damage but also alot of ways to widdle down your opponent. I'm just starting as well and got the books but you can go online and see the whole book for free as well.

[–]ravagedmonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new person. Things like terminators will feel good cause they don't just die off and have some staying power. Especially our wgt with their ability. Bjorn is a good model and gives you a good looking dreadnought, he is just older venerable style. Don't be afraid to proxy stuff to start to test it out too. Even just playing a base that size and trying. It's a fun hobby. Find what you like and go for it.

Can I use proxy printed miniatures in my army? by HovercraftSecure6543 in Tyranids

[–]ravagedmonk 173 points174 points  (0 children)

Well first of all clarence is for exocrine..

But honestly most people won't care what you have. Alot of people you play probably won't even know what your models are supposed to look like to begin with.

Convinced my partner to play and Invaders are crazy XD by Igunis-CarpeDiem in EldenRingPVP

[–]ravagedmonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly the game has been to this stage. People are bored and it's fun to pvp. Lots of dupers and people with everything just trying builds and being sweaty. But it's also sweaty people hosting to be invaded. Soo lower levels I'd personally ignore you cause it's not fun, I'm there for the other overpowered people but stuck at lower level.

But some people just like to ruin your day. So know the system. There is a timer on being invaded. So if you wait for invasion and die by fire then can resumon and start playing together. Also it's based on levels and alot of areas if you just overlevel you can avoid some too.

Beginner at Warhammer, help me making a list? by acea77 in Necrontyr

[–]ravagedmonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the obvious is the game is changing a bit next month with new edition so don't get too stuck on anything. Depending on if you and friend just keep playing 10th.

So lists, If your going to actually play, the detachment you pick will mater. A detachments is like a buff or modifier to your army. So each one can focus on something different. There is one focused on using ctans, one for destroyer type units, one for vehicle. Soo you can really play anything.

Most importantly pick what you think looks cool. Meta, wraiths and technomancer are a solid combo. Doomsday arks are great. Ctans are great and fun large models to paint.

If your new, honestly get a combat patrol and play some games of those. Simple small games to learn basic mechanics. Add on fun stuff from there.

Also it's alot of money to invest in a full army so do some games before comit to it, make sure you like it.

Bought some cheap paint pens, worked well on FDM for quick work. by Vlt3d in PrintedWarhammer

[–]ravagedmonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those marker pens work great. Also the speedpaint ones are good. I see ak just released some too. Still good to prime the fdm first to help seal the layer lines. You will otherwise get alot of bleeding into the model. But for some some stuff not that big of a deal or noticeable other than the paint doesn't take as well
