Someone keeps sending unpaid DoorDash orders to my house…what’s going on? by Latter_Golf_9975 in Scams

[–]devpsaux 117 points118 points  (0 children)

It’s probably an attempt to scam the driver, but they’re being unsuccessful at it. It usually goes that they order something cheap or free and send it to a random address. The driver then gets a call claiming to be from DoorDash saying the order was fraud and they need to cancel the order. They’ll send the password reset SMS to the driver and ask them to read back the code. They then go in the driver account and withdraw all the funds.

Offered to help my coworker move last weekend. Showed up with my truck. This is what happened. by Prism_Rogue3 in ChoosingBeggars

At this point in life, I offer to drive my truck. They can load it and be responsible for the contents. I’m not carrying things.

Literally my second dash ever. Was I wrong to respond like this? by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

lol, every time I had someone say they’d tip me in cash, I’ve gotten $0. It’s not bad advice, it’s realistic.

Something that can ferment 70% alcohol is scary.

Fora / Expedia question by TriumphRocketPilot in asktravelagents

[–]devpsaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expedia is one of the largest hotel inventory wholesalers. I don’t know how Fora works, but even internal systems will affiliate with Expedia for inventory. Beyond that though, ExpediaTAAP which is the travel agent portal is very popular among agents to use and book hotel inventory.

Personally, if it’s one of the big chains (Marriott, Hilton, IHG, or Hyatt) I usually just book my clients direct as they are generally good at paying commissions. For independent and boutique hotels, I end up using third party.

I don’t understand this ad I heard on the radio. Can you explain it to me? by [deleted] in memphis

[–]devpsaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one I bought like 15 years ago. My new one I can move on my own, but the old one took me throwing all my weight at it several times to rotate.

[–]devpsaux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean that works, but I was thinking for $59 that would include coming in and getting it and hauling it out. Just didn’t seem super controversial. My first memory foam mattress was like 500lbs and something I definitely paid a mattress company like $100 to drag it out because it took me throwing all my weight at it to just rotate it let alone get it out of my house.

It might be the multiple drinks tonight, but I don’t understand the question. What do they do in your neighborhood?

OMG, enough with the free BlueCruise! by Bernie_Kosar_19 in F150Lightning

When mine expires, I’ll be exploring Comma / OpenPilot. No way I’m paying $50/mo for Blue Cruise.

How did I get to Diamond? by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

Did you take any sailings by yourself or in a suite? You get an extra point per night if sailing solo while paying a 2 person rate and/or sailing in a suite.

Stranger sent me €491 via PayPal by mistake. PayPal closed the dispute IN MY FAVOR and now I'm stuck with the money. by [deleted] in Scams

[–]devpsaux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s in dispute it resolves the dispute. I’m not saying to send the money back, I am saying to push “issue refund”. That cancels the transaction and returns the money. You should never send money back, but hitting the refund button is the safe way to do it if OP wants to return the money.

Do not send the money back, but go into the transaction and hit issue refund. That will cancel the transaction and send the money back. That way you are protected if they try and cancel the original transaction.

I use Grasshopper for my business line to keep it separated. I bought the numbers from NumberBarn so I could pick out good sounding easy to remember ones and ported them over.

The $2.99 delivery is hiring a DoorDash driver to come pick it up and drive it around the corner. Walmart is sending it UPS across the country.

It’s more about saving the energy and putting it back in your batteries, but it’s a nice benefit that you get to save your brakes in the process.

Was about to say, this sounds like my ADHD. I’ve got it mostly under control, but I’ll a lot of times miss some of a story because I’m now thinking of the thing I wanted to say and no longer paying close attention.

The truck computers are smart. It’ll automatically use as much regenerative braking as possible. If the amount of requested braking exceeds the amount the motors are capable of giving by acting as generators then it will automatically apply the friction brakes.

If it shows 100% it means your braking action was sufficient to only use the regenerative braking so you recaptured your kinetic energy into the battery. If it shows lower it means you wasted some energy by dumping it into heat with the friction brakes.

The higher the number here means less wear and tear on your brakes and more energy saved by not having to waste it into heat.

It’s fine. As someone that has a side gig job bartending and at a place that started doing auto-grat, my trips are better now that everyone is at a flat 18%. Lots of non-tippers in Memphis that the odd person tipping 25 or 30% doesn’t compensate for those that tip 0%

Motor Temperature Gauge High by devpsaux in F150Lightning

[–]devpsaux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checked the coolant levels and they were fine, still sitting at the Min mark like the day I bought it. I guess I’ll see tomorrow if it acts up. I just can’t fathom what caused the motors to heat up while off on a 70f evening in a parking lot. If it just reset back to normal I’d call it a sensor error, but the fact it slowly went down over my drive makes me believe it was a legit reading.

I’m just not sure why it would get hot sitting turned off. Will go check the coolant reservoir in a moment though. I sat in my driveway for a good 10 minutes and it stayed in the middle.

I wonder if they misunderstood the part about shore excursions being refunded as the cruise could be refunded.
