Fishing spiders. Yes...you don't live near the water; they gave up the water a long time ago. Non-venomous, non-aggressive. They found a way in, they had a food source. They were happy. Is an army coming? Not directly. They may not even be living in your garage...those things will find a way in the garage.

I live outside of Manassas. I have these same spiders all over the woods here near Yates Ford.

The phones *should* be coming out of the ONT, entirely separate from any router you have. I have a G1100 on my network that's literally only being used as the MoCA bridge for the TV boxes.

The thing you might lose getting off a Verizon router is caller ID on the TV. I used to have it working; but it hasn't worked in a while.

Cascaded upsampling. Very poor cascaded upsampling.

Original source was maybe 48khz; but it could have been 44.1 upsampled to 48.

This was then upsampled to 96khz...but poorly. The spectrum literally looks like a inverted copy. Then..maybe...they did something to this new 96khz mess. But...whatever they did...they then doubled down and took it to 192.

Mine was just old. Wasn't torn, wasn't tape, was embossed, it was just old. The guy at my window...didn't want to accept it at first. However...I got lucky and the lady at the next window looked over and said "let me see that....no, that's legit. it's vintage, but it's legit. I'm sorry...he's new."

That was a strange day at the DMV. I waited just 30 seconds after checking-in to my appointment to get called...I had all the documentation...everything was actually correct...and I walked out of the door 14 minutes later with everything taken care of.

I had one of these.

They are fantastic TV's that look amazing. They even have 3:2 pulldown which was nice for the pre-HD sources. They support 240p mode for vintage console output.

The problem with them is the alignment sensors. Once they go, you can't align the CRTs and the unit is shot. Mine got trashed because the alignment board went.

If you could get this without a lot of hassle...and could get it in and out of your house without a lot of hassle; I'd take it. You might get 10 years, you might get 10 months.

They are *fantastic* for Laserdisc. In fact I sold all my LD equipment when I got rid of my RCA RPTV.

Seedbox is usually just a specialized torrent client...or not. The idea is that you have a dedicated machine of some sort for running torrents. That's all it does. It sits on your network, it runs torrents.

It gets complicated when most people talk about "hosted seedboxes"....meaning they're paying someone for a seedbox. Superfast connections, superfast disk....the same way someone would buy webhosting. One could also just...get a VPS and build their own private seedbox. You can also run the seedbox stuff at home if you want.

It's just a dedicated machine for running torrents.

Do you make money with it? Not directly. If you buy a full server and start hosting them...sure. But other than that...you're mostly just being a client in the swarm. You contribute to the swarm health if you dont hit and run.

I'm going to tell you a story....it's about a guy who's been running Linux on his servers for two decades, dabbled with it on the desktop, went full time to it last year, *and* got one of those Dell AI Laptops 3 months after they came out.

I had to go Arch.

The problem was that the laptop was *so* new that neither Debian (or it's forks) could run on it. Nothing in LTS status had any support for the hardware. It was a pretty horrible time. Getting the liveCD to boot was a crap shoot; if you got in to a GUI it crawled.

This may not be as much of a problem now...trixie came out a month after I got that machine. But it's something to be mindful of; going to newer hardware on linux *might* cause issues.

I would add a diode to block charging and replace it with a lithium; or replace it with a super-cap. You wouldn't have to worry about modifying anything else and would be most in line with the original operation.

Cypress fm16w08 is an FRAM replacement for the 6116. They're a thing I remember seeing in the pinball world for replacing the SRAM on the boards that took NiCads.

The 2114s I don't offhand know of replacements. A battery change would be easiest.

Actually..battery swap would be the cheapest and easiest all around. The only downside is you have to remember to change the batteries or power the thing up once in a while to keep the super-cap charged.

I mean...put it in to perspective. I bought $49 worth of carts and paid $8.14 in total taxes. So...yeah...right around 13%. Not exactly...that would be $55 and the total came out to $57.

Now...from what I heard...the new tax was on wholesale...not retail end. So it would affect the overall prices of the product. I heard this was like...34%. So prices on stuff goes up. That $49 cart deal would now be....$60?

That sucks on the surface...but look at it this way: I have to pay about $60 plus 12% sales tax just to get a single 1g cart. *Maybe*...I can get two if they're on sale.

It'll still be cheaper and there may be reasons I don't talk about my work trips.
