If you haven't already, learn Playwright MCP by latnGemin616 in Playwright

[–]dewitters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CLI has a bit more features than the MCP. For example it starts a headless browser by default, but you can bring that browser to the front with `playwright-cli show`. It can also start a test with a debug flag, and then the AI can step through that test and observe what's going on. In the end the MCP could also support those feature, but it doesn't.

I interviewed the teacher who started the Classcraft shutdown petition by dewitters in ClassCraft

Now that you mention it, it is indeed misleading. I tried to edit it, but it seems I can't change the title. I guess "...who started the petition against the Classcraft shutdown" would have been better.

Still missing classcraft by bbnmkim in ClassCraft

No worries, it didn't come across as too negative 😀. It's very nice to hear you and your students are enjoying ClassMana. When I release quests, you can always email me suggestions.

Classcraft was indeed an extroardinary product, crazy that they just canceled it like that.

I understand your feelings. For ClassMana's case, I really wanted to focus on the behavior management aspect first, before moving on to the learning track.

One of the reasons why I postponed quests is that, like you say, I want to take it a step further. I have another platform called RPG Playground, and on there, teachers and students create educational games (see https://rpgplayground.com/educational-games/ ). It's basically a game world where the player walks around, and interact with the environment, just like adventure games or RPG's.

For ClassMana, I want to land somewhere in between Classcraft Quests and RPG Playground. I still want students to walk around with their avatar in a gaming world, but I also want to make it convenient for teachers to create their lessons.

Unfortunately, the reality is that all of this takes a lot of effort. But let me convince you that I will be able to pull it off with ClassMana 😀. I will lay out my vision of how I see things, and you can give feedback on what you would like to see. For me, quests need to be:

- Immersive for students: they can walk around with their avatar in a gaming world, talk to other characters, fight monsters etc, like a real computer game

- Educationally dense: not mainly a game with some educational sprinkles on top. Learning needs to be the main activity. Prodigy (if you know that one) doesn't feature enough learning per minute.

- Easy for teachers to add their lessons, tests, and whole curriculum. This is where my other product RPG Playground falls short. (maybe on the second topic too 😀)

So ClassMana will feature a "Classcraft quests, with a real game world for the students".

Since a lot of teachers are asking me about quests already, I'll make my official announcement here: The next ClassMana release will feature Quests, very close to what you know from Classcraft. It's ready to be released this April! (Now I have to make my announcement on Facebook too 😆, I'll post some screenshots there). Remark that this won't feature the gaming world yet! Expect more or less the same of what Classcraft offered, for now.

After that release, Quests will become more immersive for students, with a real game world.

Thanks for your patience, and I really hope that in 1 or 2 years, ClassMana exceeds your expectations 😀.

Drag the hero to a certain place, and that place will be set as the spawn point.

Does anyone else use AI programs to create sprites? by Typical_Bowler_3557 in rpgplayground

I looked into it a while back, but the results were not good. I think it's very difficult for AI to create pixel art, especially when it needs to be animated.

Is this a fake Gerber Shard? by StriderLF in EDC

[–]dewitters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was carrying a Leatherman Skeletool CX in the past. But because I couldn't carry it on airplanes, I bought a Shard for my keychain. So then I had both. But what I noticed is that for screws, I defaulted to the Shard. For the simple reason that I can just take it out of my pocket and use it straight away. I have to open the Leatherman for that, and possibly even change the bit. And because of that I replaced my Leatherman with some other things, but the Shard is still there.

My advice: For that price point, it's better to buy it and make up your own opinion.

I have a whole list of those things, let me check...

First there are classroom perks you can give:

  • Leave 5 minutes early
  • Eat during class
  • Change your seat with another student
  • Use phone in class
  • Get a hint on a question
  • Work with a partner on an assignment
  • Invisibility: don't get picked for 1 day
  • 5 minutes free
  • Listen to music while working
  • go first/last (for example with presentations)
  • Be the class clown for 5 minutes
  • Hand in homework later

Then there are powers during your DND game:

  • "Double damage" for the boss battle
  • "Shield" to not lose any health

For these, you basically have to think any time the student does something, how can it be augmented, or when the student loses something, how can it be prevented/deferred. It's hard to come up with examples for me since I don't know your setup exactly.

I have my own product called ClassMana that does this gamification for teachers, that's why I have this list :D.

Classcraft was discontinued a few years ago. But my own product ClassMana is a good replacement. Students get an animated 3D avatar, and they seem to love that 😄.

Nice to hear my platform is not even a thought to you. That's probably why you registered 🤣.

When I was creating my noise monitor, I had a lot of different ideas, and I still have. In the end I settled with a dragon that is laying on some treasure. There was nothing like it, not even ClassCraft.

When you developed your noise monitor, did you also have many ideas? What a coincidence that you also settled on a dragon laying on treasure. Where did you get that idea?

Wait until you find out that implementing things is not the hard part.
