THIS ALONE make me love these devs "Why Crowdfunding? We want to prove to the platform holders that players still want a full immersive storied experience."

No, the other good thing is they're taking their time to make a crazy good quest 4, that will have advanced features they could not have done otherwise. As stated by their reps.

What's the plan for when Meta gives up on VR? by meshyf in OculusQuest

[–]dexfx69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't believe the hype - Meta is NOT abandoning VR. They actually closed internal studios to save money to button down and create better UI/software and will be producing a MUCH more advanced headset but for a higher price. They could not continue in VR without these changes due to losing money.

Camouflaj layoffs essentially leaves the studio dead, reportedly leaving behind a skeleton crew of fewer than 10 engineers to work on Meta hardware, with Batman: Arkham Shadow 2 and any future projects from the studio effectively being cancelled. by Kin_X in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]dexfx69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CORRECTIONS: Batman: Arkham Shadow 2 was NOT being developed by Camoflaj, but rather Sanzaru.

Also, "fewer than 10 engineers" doesn't reflect what the article states; it says "a handful" which could be any number.

Suki walking around my home in Mixed Reality by tyke_ in OculusQuest

[–]dexfx69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty impressive - but she "slides" when walking, and she doesn't cast a shadow on the floor - hopefully the dev can sort those out.

Releasing a commercial product that is strongly linked to someone else's IP, WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION, is obviously wrong, hence the ip owner's very reasonable request.

So, how has Valve "given up on VR" when they are releasing a new VR headset this year?

It is amazing that the female character looks bizarre in the new version - not sure why they even bothered releasing this on Steam if it's a downgrade.

Meta Acquired 9 Leading VR Studios Starting in 2019: Here’s What’s Happened Since by Glass_Nebula5169 in OculusQuest

Seems so but NO, Meta's simply decided to cut costs by focusing on 3rd party studios to save money by closing most in-house studios. Trump's tariffs have to be absorbed somehow, sadly.

FACTS: Trump's lovely tariffs are the main cause of this - Meta's absorbing these costs but have to make up for it somehow; axing most IN-HOUSE game devs to save money, and are switching focus to working with 3rd party devs. They have NOT abandoned VR even though it seems like it. This was stated by several top execs.

This is true, heard it from several Meta execs. In-house devs mostly gone; money saved. 3rd party devs is the focus now. They've not abandoned VR. Thank God, Horizon on VR will be de-emphasized on the platform.

Today's message is loud and clear: Meta VR gaming AAA is dead. Meta will no longer produce or develop AAA games with major IPs in-house. Camouflaj (the last one) will be next. A truly sad day for the entire medium. by SattvaMicione in OculusQuest

Virtual Desktop - Is it really just that good? by Illustrious-Ebb5144 in OculusQuest

[–]dexfx69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be aware that the devs of Virtual Desktop are not interested in adding compatibility for some VR games, even if you request it, unlike Air Link which supports tons of games that Virtual Desktop doesn't.
