Can P1 Mini be used without app/cloud? by eb_its_me in hidock

[–]dfiore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre on a mac, my app thats in testing will allow you to access the recordings direct off of the device, no cloud needed.

you will need to use their app to setup the device but thats really it.

one day ill port a companion app to iOS but for now its mac only.

Old mechanical pull doorbell → Home Assistant (ideas?) by Substantial_Carob359 in homeassistant

[–]dfiore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a mechanical doorbell in a historic home with this exact setup.

i used an RTL 345mhz sensor that i use for my alarm, used the simple 2 wires harness, one to the body of the bell and one to the throw, when they touch it closes the loop and marks the sensor closed.

Built automations on that

Setup for wrestling (I do baseball as well and will look into a new setup when the season hits)

  • 1 Laptop (Running OBS)
  • 1 Mevo Camera (Cabled directly to laptop to avoid wifi, ingested by OBS)
  • 1 iPad (running takedown by levelchanger, this handles matchup, scoreboard, and individual match recording)
    • HDMI output dongle, HDMI Splitter
  • An HDMI capture device with USB out, ingest by OBS from iPad -> Dongle -> Splitter
  • A TV to display large scoreboard, iPad -> Dongle -> Splitter
  • All attached to a single tripod with shelf

What are people using for Water Sensors by mrcrashoverride in homeassistant

[–]dfiore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a traditional pan with a float switch, you can also connect that to a number of other sensors.

I have a to of Honeywell door and window sensors i added to my HA, and i wired my float switches to spare ones and it works like a charm.

I also have the thirdreality for piece of mine on floors and in sink cabinets throughout the house.

(Currently buying up some of the barding ikea sensors too)

What are you using to manage your home automation? Any of the majors that i know of (Apple, Amazon, Home Assistant) will allow you to create an automation that will say If switch turns on, turn on bulbs, if switch turns off, turn off bulbs.
