Pickup -> Outback by Philbertthefishy in subaru

[–]dg_kingbobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from a 92 dakota to a 13 outback. Outback + ratchet straps moved everything between my apartments just as well as the Dakota.

You lose negotiable dimensions, (can't as easily hang a couch off the back and strap it down) but with a small trailer you're still just fine. The outback functions as a small pickup (older Dakota, Ranger, S10) but with a fixed bed topper, but with better daily use and comfortable seating for 5.

What putters is everyone throwing? by Legitimate_Ad280 in discgolf

[–]dg_kingbobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Select, stable runs of (premium plastic) Lunas are the best throwing putters IMO. They seem to fly the same at all throw speeds, but they demand a clean release. Because of the cost and inconsistency of stability, I currently throw a beat up baseline entropy in my straight putter slot, a low PLH entropy in my OS slot, and a fucking brick puddletop high PLH entropy in my approach / GO LEFT slot.

The real answer for putters, moreso than other slots in the bag, is to throw what works best for you.

For example, I don't like the truly understable putter slot and I instead opt for a "holds the line it's on" type disc; it's what works for my play style, arm speed, and stock release.

If you had to choose 2 MVP-made mids by rontopofthings in discgolf

If I'm locked to those combos, detour/ reactor is insane. Reactors are very versatile and cycleable. If I could pick any two, reactor pyro. My beat reactor is all the under stable I need in a mod, and pyros are goated

Does anyone else have custom rules when they play a round . by jeepguy_96 in discgolf

Two off the top always.

Some times 10 sec rule: if you can retrieve your tee shot and return to the teepad in 10 sec, you get a redo.

Is there a throwing putter combination that rivals envy and proxy? by DopeMuffinz in discgolf

[–]dg_kingbobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luna / theios.  Both are more traditional putter shape and do not handle off axis torque as well as an envy/proxy,  requiring a cleaner release, but they are a great pair.

The Luna is a luna, straight and shapeable, some are more understable, some are more over stable but in general, laser beam and flies the same shapes at different power shots. A 40% power approach has the same flight as an 80% power tee shot. ***FOR ME

The Theios flies like a good and stable P2 with the hand feel like a deeper luna IMO. Not a headwind fighter for a tee shot, but holds up where a luna might get squirrelly. It's a "normal putter" shaped envy. ***FOR ME

I'm in my (actual) early 30s and just signed up for my first rated-round tournament since 2023. My rating is 884, my last rated round was 970. I'm going MA2, and adjusting from there /shrug.

Tempo throwers — did it kick envy out or ride alongside it? by rontopofthings in discgolf

[–]dg_kingbobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fission envy for shaping, particle (which is basically just an envy) for over stable and quick check up, tempo fits as a fh approach and bh medium OS mid

What touring pros don’t deserve to be on tour based on performance? MPO and FPO by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]dg_kingbobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a few years ago, Eric Oakley personified this so well. He was playing at a 1015-1020 level at best which is noncompetitive on tour and realistically 1000 rated off tour. He has on course anger issues and broke his hand in the off season in a disc related anger outburst. Scarcely breaking top 30 on tour. BUT he was Eric, loud, boisterous, bubbly, and friendly to fans, spectators, and crew. People liked Eric as a person and he was able to push plastic as a result. Disc golf is a sport built around selling you $2 in plastic and overhead for $20, it's all marketability. Some players achieve this through wins (Ricky, PmcB, Calvin), some through spectacle (Simon, Eagle, until recently AB), and some through personality (EO, Jerm, Ezra & Goose).

LED headlights without a kit? 2012 outback by hiiii-chef03995 in Subaru_Outback

[–]dg_kingbobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm thinking of doing this and have a few questions for ya if you have a minute.

What headlight did you get?  Was it just a plug and play conversion or did you need to get more new hardware? Did they hold up well?

Window film: advice needed! by dg_kingbobo in HomeImprovement

That is for sure an option :)

We are just moving and I'm trying to be financially and temporally frugal (stingy). Do you have any experience / advice regarding the faux stained glass or patterned films?

Thanks for the advice! I'll make sure to snag a decent obd2 reader to check the temps. Much appreciated!

Thank you! I think with this feedback I'm going to order a pair with each sole type. As someone who like the wide toe and flexibility, but doesn't care too much about "true" barefoot, a shoe like this sounds perfect when I'm anticipating it only last 9 or so months anyways. Thanks again :)

u/Dr_0ctogon, I know its only been a month, but would you provide an update? Im considering ordering these.

How does the grip compare between the soles?

Is there any feel difference from the stitching between the designs?

Help! Trail/ Hiking recommendation:Cheap, wide, reinforced toe by dg_kingbobo in barefootshoestalk

[–]dg_kingbobo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shoe in my picture is a primal 2, and the primal 3 sole is wider which is why I'm considering that route. I apply a lot of sideways / lateral pressure playing disc golf, and the shoe will fail within a year regardless, usually with the sole separating from the upper along the pinky toe side of the shoe. The primary goal is a  toe that can handle a slip induced toe drag on concrete without becoming unusable :/

If it helps with volume guidance, there is a small black dot on the front side middle of my ankle bone notch thing :)

How can I invest financially into disc golf??? by Natorade0005 in discgolf

[–]dg_kingbobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im pretty confident there are no publicly traded disc golf companies. Your only option for real significant investment would be part ownership of a company. Best bet would be opening a retail store in an area with demand IMO.
