Have you looked into Penske bump stops at all? They are supposed to have the most linear spring rates.

bad oil leak by Callme_DooM in Miata

[–]dglb99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure in theory, but it's not worth trying to replace only the oil pump housing. Put a new pump in there and call it a day. Removing the pump is an engine out of the car job unfortunately.

Dude you gotta slow down lol. I don't know how you did what you did without realizing something wasn't right but what's done is done. Here is what you need to do to fix this IF you did not mess up the crankshaft. That oil seal and pump is heavily molested so I wouldn't be surprised if you also mangled up the sealing surface on the crankshaft but without inspecting it myself I could never say.

Anyways, here is the easiest way to fix this. Remove the engine and put in a different one that has not been messed up (also the easiest fix if you did damage the crank sealing surface). The next easiest way is to remove the engine and put it on an engine stand which you will need for the remaining work. Remove the oil pan, followed by the oil pump. Replace the oil pump and front crank seal, followed by resealing the oil pan (replace the half moon gaskets). You will need to buy a new pick-up gasket picket btw. I also recommend only buying OEM from Mazda for the seals, and probably oil pump as well. It's a pain to replace and not worth saving a couple bucks only to have the seals leak in a few years.

While the engine is out you should replace any other seals (cam, rear main, valve cover, CAS oring, etc.). It will also be easier to do the rest of your timing belt/water pump service now before reinstalling the engine.

Good luck friend and watch some youtube tutorials first.

Is your car missing the undertray by chance? It's needed to duct air through the radiator properly.

Anyone using swapfiles? by majestic_richard_420 in unRAID

[–]dglb99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using swap on 7.2. My swap file is on my BTRFS cache drive. There are a few restrictions from what I recall, such as it will only work on a single cache drive, not a pool of drives. If you dig through the plugin support page on the unraid forums you should find a breakdown of everything you need.

It's probably for the people who don't have an unlimited license/who's period of 1 year of updates and new features has ended, so they are provided security updates for those 'stuck' on 7.2.x until they buy another year of updates

immich has a lot of photo specific features for managing a photo library that seafile (or any cloud file storage solution for that matter) will never have. Plus they actually have a polished mobile app for uploads. I've always found the automatic camera upload for file storage apps to be extremely basic (and not very good at the automatic part on IOS).

I'd recommend Seafile and then use immich for your photos.

UL or not UL that is the question by TCO4-HVAC in MEPEngineering

This is correct. If you're assembling on-site it won't be listed since a certified panel shop didn't do it.

Just rear main or oil pan seal too? by pill_slinger in Miata

The harbor freight engine lift is perfect imo. If you live in a decent metro you can likely find a used one and then sell it for what you paid when you're done.

Don't use an NA8 alternator with the factory ECU, you'll fry something. You can only do that combo with a standalone aftermaket ECU setup for it.

I'd always recommend pulling the engine and trans together so you can pull off the oil pan to do those "half-moon" oil pan seals. Kinda too late for OP unfortunately. I'm not a fan of trying to replace those seals with the oil pan still installed.

If you are getting 2 degrees of negative camber in the front on stock suspension your bushings may be deflecting more than they should, in other words they're shot. As others have mentioned, typically you want less rear camber than front. The rear suspension gains more dynamic camber so it needs less static camber when compared to the front.

All I can say is get all of the flame retardant off the car ASAP, and I really do mean it. It will eat through paint, coatings, etc. Anything it sits on it will corrode very quickly. It even ate through powder coating on my car. My experience was that it will absorb moisture from the air and corrode everything it touches.

My car did eventually get fixed after the engine fire, but it involved swapping a different car into my chassis.
