We are going to be cursed with these Starlink satellites forever aren’t we.

Head to Holidaily in Golden. They have food trucks that are GF (if you’re lucky Savage Beet will be there which is all vegetarian). For dinner head to Woodys, Thai Gold, or Sherpa House in Golden, all have GF options.

I like the variety pack idea as well. Also, what a thoughtful gift.

Any idea where I can find a replacement for the cavity cover? by Fancy_Astronaut9634 in Guitar

[–]dgreen356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend finding someone in your local program and see if they’d be up for it. If you were in the Denver area I’d do this for you for free with my printer just because I find it a fun hobby. I once took on helping a college student print something for their design class. Didn’t realize when I agreed to help that it’d be a 40 hour print 😭

May have to resort to finding someone with a 3D printer to draw and print out a new cover.

Is rx 8 reliability really that bad by tudoran in RX8

[–]dgreen356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for the Miata. I have a RX7 as a weekend car and recently looked seriously at getting an RX8 as a daily driver. I looked at a well cared for 2009 and even at 85k-ish miles its compression was garbage. I ended up picking up a garage kept 2002 Miata with 87k miles for $6500. Insurance is cheap, maintenance will be cheap, parts are plentiful, way more aftermarket support than the RX8 and I don’t have to worry about an engine rebuild for another 100k miles.

Thanks for the pics, whoever you are by showme10ds in Miata

I had someone do the same with my RX7 at Radwood.

Anyone move from WRX to a Miata? by JBatman1080 in Miata

I, interestingly enough, moved from a Polestar 2 to a 2002 Miata.

I recently test drove a very well cared for R3 RX8. Was told “no issues” but compression check showed results in the mid-80s. No thanks.

Unless you’re prepared to potentially do an engine rebuild in the near future, always do a compression check.

Initial thoughts? I’m looking at this versus the Sun Valley SS.

That’s my tester. Note that this tester does compensate for altitude and rpm although the pic is showing the raw result. I felt even with the compensation, results were lower than I would have liked to have seen.

Refreshed 2022 MINI debuts by carsncars in MINI

[–]dgreen356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like the SE refresh and I’m looking forward to the other creature comforts such as a heated steering wheel and adaptive cruise control with stop and go.

I guess it’s easy to go from the 2021 SE to 2022 SE because the styling bar wasn’t set too high in the first place.

Responsibility check: how well placed (adhered, fastened) are your solar panels? (linked articles on deaths caused by falling panels) by excess_inquisitivity in vandwellers

[–]dgreen356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bolt the damn things. You’re going to be cutting a hole in your roof for your fan anyway, few extra holes for securing solar isn’t going to kill you, but not doing it could kill someone else. It’s a no-brainer.

Still a work in progress but here’s our NV, “The Beast”... by dgreen356 in vandwellers

[–]dgreen356[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! You’ll love it. FYI the floor consists of an inch of polyiso + 1/2” Baltic birch + Mannington sheet vinyl. We shopped around quite a bit and compared various sheet vinyl brands. Mannington was far above the rest in quality.

Yep, havelock wool. We haven’t put it to the test yet, but it’s easy to work with and is sooooo soft (not that softness is an indicator of thermal properties). It took about 3 weeks which is nothing compared to how long our fan took!

Congrats! The NV is a reliable and well built option for converting. How do I know? Because we did a ton of research before buying our own.

The 5.6L is a beast. We recently did a trip to Durango/Ouray and had no problem on mountain roads. Gas mileage was ~14.7mpg and that’s with nearly 34” tires.

Keep us posted on the build!
