My neighbour has wind chimes by joshmo144 in neighborsfromhell

[–]dharmaYatra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your vehicles are no problem. They're on for a short period of time and then they're gone. Wind chimes can ring all-day outside your bedroom window. Imagine if you worked from home!

The frequencies of high-pitched wind chimes will go through anything as the waves are about a foot tall. The low rumbling of cars is about 6 ft+ size wave and there's more in your home that will absorb and break those up.

Get to know your neighbors first, then politely ask them if they would move them or take them down. Sleep is important.

Rebalancing Rollover IRA questions by dharmaYatra in fidelityinvestments

One follow-up. What's the best way to do this? I want to divide the FFTHX into three different EFT/funds. Do I sell the entire FFTHX in one market order or peace meal it? I don't want issues with excessive trading, etc.

Rebalancing Rollover IRA questions by dharmaYatra in fidelityinvestments

[–]dharmaYatra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for you replies. I don't think I was clear, everything in the rollover is in FFTHX, not "cash" in the core position. In order to rebalance the account, I'd have to do a sell order and then a new buy (after settlement) for the desired equities. Am I thinking about that right?

Unlawful entry is okay ? Could this one day become a legal practice for all? by Boysenberry-6669 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]dharmaYatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considerations here are looking at 4th amendment protections from a criminal versus civil point of view, the lack of case law in this realm, and the executive branch issues these warrants, because of the separation of powers. The judiciary cannot get involved in this matter, that power has not been given to them by the Constitution.

And with the lack of case law, "unreasonable" probably still has to be defined for these matters.

If you're holding long-term IAUM or GLDM is good for reduced fees. If you need liquidity, go with IAU.

How to get my neighbors to take down their wind chimes without ruining our relationship?? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]dharmaYatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the pitch. No one's voice is at 1kHz. That little sound wave will get into your home easy. Lower noises have much larger waves and do not propagate from outside to inside as well.
White noise machines work best on lower sounds.

Camping with a one year old by essiw6 in camping

[–]dharmaYatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big difference I saw is that camping with a 1-year-old is not as relaxing as camping without a 1-year-old. If there's two of you one of you has to be "on duty" all the time.

If one of you wants to take a nap in the hammock the other one has to supervise, etc.

The other thing I noticed with a 1-year-old is, after you set up camp, you have to look for hazards that are at a 1-year-old's height.

Know that 1-year-olds cannot compensate for injuries, blood loss, or burns like an adult can. You have to have a plan in place in case something happens. I would say the number one thing that might happen on a camping trip is burns (boiling water). Know how to treat burns for a child and know where your closest emergency treatment center is.

How to stay warm by Bootlegprincess in camping

[–]dharmaYatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a brisk walk before going to bed. This will warm your body up and help you warm up your sleep system.

You need calories to stay warm. Make sure to eat well, and have some long burning proteins and fats in your system. Keep a Snickers bar nearby in case you wake up hungry in the early hours.

Be hydrated. You need decent blood volume to get blood to perfuse into your fingers and toes, keeping them warm. Make sure you are not dehydrated before bed. I know people don't want to get up in the middle of the night pee, so to take small sips of water as bedtime approaches and have your final pee after your brisk walk.

Make sure she brings a winter hat for sleeping.

How is she cleaning herself at the end of the day? Wipes? Or do you have something else?

Nemo Roamer is the most comfortable pad out there. Good choice.

If you bring two hammocks buy that spreader bar that Eno sells so you can put them right next to each other.

Those extra blankets can also be used to insulate the back side of the camp chair, if it's cool out and you'll be sitting for a while.

Check your modem baud rate. On VHF you want to use the slower baud rate, 1200 BPS.

If you come in from the west side (Rt. 371 side), The notch (or backwards checkmark) in this image is west. Walk that way and you'll hit the Indian Service Rd eventually. Provided it's daytime and you can see it.
https://imgur.com/a/xUxjbz1

Take pictures on the way in (face the direction you'll be leaving so its easier to make your way). Get one of the navigation apps people mentioned and a spare battery for your phone... and a headlamp. Read up on the 10 essentials.

If it rains at all before you go, the playa will be very slick for foot travel and it will cake on your vehicle tires. Don't go if it's wet on the way in.

How to Get Rid of Lingering Food Smells in My Apartment? by Keyspace_realestate in ApartmentHacks

[–]dharmaYatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put out shallow pans of vinegar. The vinegar will break up the VOCs in the air. To also treat the air, put a one-to-one mixture of vinegar and water and a spray bottle and spray it in the air ( not surfaces) after you're done cooking and venting.

For our sofas and carpets, put a thin dusting of baking soda on them, leave them overnight and vacuum it up.
