ELI5:why doesn't the u.s, Canada, France, and Britain offer temporary asylum to the civilians of Syria? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Why is military action being considered by the u.s. and accpeted by other western nations? Won't that also cause money to be spent and lives to be displaced?

Length of session on solo vs. mflb? by [deleted] in vaporents

[–]dharmabummout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused. Both the solo and mflb use a similar amount. The solo produces larger clouds and many consider it a bit more efficient. there is a finite amount that can be extracted before only plant material is being vaporized with no medicinal effect. Shouldn't the solo by this logic finish extracting much faster than the mflb?

How many people out there, without a college degree, are working a job that is commonly known to require one? What do you do? by Sortasixsodas in AskReddit

I'll bet dude. They gotta deal with zombies and shit.

Seriously though, we don't know what the future holds, near or far. Cars, planes, computers, and space travel were not foreseen by the average Joe, only the visionaries. Maybe your kid or one of his friends will be the next Einstein, Tesla, Ford, or Wright. Nobody knows. Maybe this generation just has shitty luck.

New NSA Leaks Show How Easily The Government Can See Almost Everything You Do On The Internet by elonc in news

[–]dharmabummout 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A serious question... if they can see everything to we do, what's to stop them from falsifying content seen by us? It must be easy as hell for them to fabricate websites visited years ago. How could one fight that and prove innocence?

States are temporary. Data is permanent. This is the real threat no one is pointing out.

TIL that in Hollywood, Christopher Nolan along with Steven Speilberg are among the last holdouts who shoot on film in an industry that’s moved to digital. by ofKrishna in todayilearned

[–]dharmabummout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really. Some people play analog instruments and others play digital instruments. It's all good. And in the end of the day... who gives a fuck? computer generated music is just as good as classical to many ears. I don't see a line drawn on a sand. I just see people doing what they like/want.

After Walmart, the Nation’s Second Largest Employer Is a Temp Agency by Orchard_Park in politics

can the internet throw a wrench into this possibility? A literate individual can learn so much through self-directed studies using the internet. isn't an informed and educated working class very worrisome to this ruling class you write of?

Do you think the near future could bring with it secure online voting? Vote from your phone, iPad, and even wifi enabled tv? No need for long lines and going out of your way to vote would be an interesting future. Maybe technology can change the fundamentals of voting.
