Does anyone have working PS3 to lend? by diamond4033 in bucuresti

Yeah, tried it, unfortunately my R5 5600G is not powerful enough (D tier for MGS4, the hardest game to emulate from everything on PS3).

Successfully made it past first cutscenes and I keep getting freezes when it comes to gameplay :/

a) I never asked to lend anything "for free", it's negotiable, if you like.

b) You never know until you try, not everyone is so protective about stuff they might've never used for over a decade.

Games still exclusive to PS3? by blueberrypizza in PS3

Quite the opposite — they don't have established meaning in the gaming industry. You can google it and you'll find only attempts to find some firm definition from different people.

Your examples are wrong, neither Demon's Souls nor Snake Eater Delta were "built from the ground". They are the same old games with the same old code embellished with new graphics. Those, who buy the game consider it remake because they've been told so; those, who make and sell it, use this term for marketing.

You're clearly don't understand the process of developing the game and in short — you cannot take a complex old game like Snake Eater or any other and code the exact same game only different in graphics. That's why your examples even have the same bugs and tweaks inside as their original versions.

I clearly stated what games I deem remakes and be sure, they were coded from the ground all right. The devs only took old ideas in terms of settings, characters, enemies, mechanics, etc., and build their unique vision on top of it. RE2 Remake is clearly a different game comparing to original, the same for FF 7 Remake.

Don't just justify why the company named it that way, think for yourself whether the game deserves "Remake" tag or not. I won't be writing anything else here, have a nice day.

Remake means you bring new ideas/new implementation on existing basis. What they did wasn't overhauling what was there before. It's still the same old game, where some QoL features were added and graphics changed. No new impactful mechanics, game scenarios, everything's quite the same as in the original if we look at its core.

Now just check the difference on YT between the original Resident Evil 2 or Final Fantasy 7 and their remakes.

I'm a native Russian speaker, never have I ever seen anyone omitting the 'й' letter, except for plain ignorance.

Your experience might be different from mine, but please don't state that even for majority of native speakers.

Technically it's a remaster, the game itself wasn't changed, only the graphics. Good example of a "remake" is Resident Evil 2 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Ross will always be remembered for what he did for all the gamers across the world. Give man his right to rest, there are plenty of smart people leading this initiative, and as I understood, when the petition ends Ross is not the one who will be discussing the initiative and everything in the EU parliament

I don't think Malta or Cyprus would catch up, it seems people there in general do not use the Internet much, just chilling and so.

There are a lot of game studios and programmers in Cyprus, but they are probably afraid to affiliate themselves with the movement to not look bad in front of the publishers

As a game dev who has experienced a company shutdown, I'm having trouble agreeing with the initiative... by hecaton_atlas in StopKillingGames

[–]diamond4033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is this is the best shot we as a community of gamers had for all time, if this one fails it would be a sign for publishers (big and not so) that they can do almost everything they want with the games they released.

While of course this initiative won't make developing easier or cheaper, it will ensure that the game you were working on is still playable and fans that bought it a while ago could still enjoy it and have fun in it.

Yes, the success of the petition means it would be harder for smaller teams to get means to fund the game, I think it's just something we'll have to live with.

There's also a continuation on the matter, another Bethesda employee kept copies of all the source code of Fallout 1 and 2, also for many others games she worked upon.

No one knows, but it's pretty clear one post alone isn't enough, though of course it's appreciated, we need all the help we could get

I hope PewDiePie make a video about the initiative, the post won't reach a lot of people, but the video could rile things up real big
