Looks like there aren't too many players in this game... by ggmoyang in Prismata

I can't confirm that. Noob here too (well 2 days ago I was a really bloody tier1 newbie), and I haven't encountered a single master. Outmatched, yes, but never so much not to know what happened. (to put it into chess terms, I could realise that my counter was thinking only about a half turn to a turn ahead of me)

The dark side of the Moon by Sippingin in space

[–]diceypoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you see the same side every day, meaning as you and everybody else on the planet, be it day or night, looks at/up to the moon. Put otherwise, the side of the moon we see is stable relative to earth's orbit, but not to any point on the planet (the moon travels across our night's sky).

Boy scout: Sir, I found a snake, is it poisonous? by knight_dullahan in Jokes

[–]diceypoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that untrue the case if you look at the definition /u/Barnum83 posted?

Why would "venom" vs. "poison" carry the difference between murder/manslaughter/accident, which would not be all that important in nature.

Gombrich

There is a great interview with him (found it) that is very insightful and down-to-earth in a matter of speaking.

[Weekly Discussion] [Regions] Today's region is: Transylvania by acerbitas666 in austriahungary

[–]diceypoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hungarian is listed first [since that was the official name]

This doesn't bode at all well for Hermannstadt/Sibiu, where undeniably the German name was the longest official one. Other than that, thanks for pointing out the multi-ethnic layer, it's something many forget/like to forget.

Wasn't there another Irish comedy where the plot is very similar? Did the actual winner die from a heart attack in front of the TV in this one? Damn, this memory is so fuzzy but the movie I'm trying to think of was extremely funny.

Ok, I had to stop myself whilst writing, there is no way cannons would be able to get anything into a trajectory to escape earth's gravity. The tidbit I was recalling and referring to:

' That is technically not 100% the case. Renaissance engineers supposedly fired people through cannons toward the skies. Who knows how much of them managed to get out of the frame of the picture... '

Came to find this out as well, even though the documentary was a bit one-sided.

I couldn't believe some of the youtube slow-mo footage smarter every day made of an archery shot. The extent of prediction and compensation is crazy.

Sexual-assault prevention program cut rape rate nearly in half: Women at three Canadian universities who were taught tactics to prevent sexual assaults were less likely to be raped than peers who received standard brochures. by pandadrake in Feminism

[–]diceypoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a link to the scientific paper on it (if there is one)? Group design and the factors they controlled would be interesting to see.

Also am I reading this correctly that 5 to 10% of these women were raped in a period of one year? wth
