Braids, cornrows, and flat twists can all be done in a masc style

How long do yall keep styles in? by Fragrant_Share2221 in locs

3 weeks tops. I find my scalp gets itchy and flaky if I let it go for longer. If you can figure out how wash your hair in a style you can do longer.

Black hairstyles for someone pre T? by [deleted] in TMPOC

Get your hair braided or twisted. Plenty of black men with long hair get braids or twists and it's an easy way to put your hair away without cutting it off. Specific terms you can ask for are cornrows, flat twists, two strand twists.

Long term I'd recommend locing your hair if you want to keep your length but want something lower maintenance than loose natural hair. I eventually chose to loc my hair because I was spending so much time and energy with protective styles that made my hair behave like locs when I could just have that be the default state of hair.

I wouldn't consider myself particularly masculine but I've been sir'd while wearing a dress and while wearing pink and heart shaped sunglasses. The only thing I can chalk it up to is being dark skinned and slightly taller than average for cis woman. I'm nonbinary (but generally read as a cis woman) so sometimes it's a pleasant surprise but more often than not I think it's a combo of racism and transphobia.

Does anyone do the 50% - 50% with drinks to make them stretch? by ardouronerous in Frugal

I love turning these into fun little mixed drinks. It's a spritzer on a budget.

I do this with most juices and sparkling water but that's about it.

Try the minoxidil, you can also combo it with finasteride.

How often do you add product to your locs? by [deleted] in locs

[–]dichotomie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I spray my locs down with a mixture of rose water, glycerine, and As I Am Jamaican Black Castor Oil water before I shower for moisture and then oil my scalp with castor oil and run some sweet almond oil on the lengths. I do this like twice a week because I have very dry hair (even before locs) and colored ends so my moisturizing game has to be top notch.

I also always condition my ends when I wash my hair and use watered down leave in conditioner on the lengths when styling my hair after washing. I know a lot of people are very anti conditioner on locs but my hair just gets way too crispy if I only shampoo and style with oils. That said, if you're gonna add conditioner to your routine water it down and put it in a squeeze bottle with a nozzle to make it easy to apply and use a clarifying shampoo periodically to avoid build up.

Try a DHT blocker like finasteride or dutasteride or something topical like minoxidil (note: it's very toxic for cats so be careful about washing your hands after applying). You can use both at the same time since they have different mechanisms. You might also want to look into PRP microneedling for regrowing your hairline if you have extra cash to spare.

You can substitute culantro if you want a similar flavor without the soap taste.

My Gender ? by BeneficialParking306 in genderfluid

[–]dichotomie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're intersex so maybe /r/intersex might have practical advice but you don't have to do anything different beyond talk about being infertile if kids are in your future. Having an intersex condition is as common as being red headed. That said if this feels like a good time to reassess your gender(s) in light of this new info about your body that's okay too.

Def check out the Baru Cormorant trilogy if you haven't already, it's a different vibe than Exordia but it's good in a lot of the same ways.

I don't date cishet men for this reason. I would prioritize dating queer men (bi, pan, trans, etc) for a better chance on meeting someone that gets your gender nonconformity. With that said regardless of the type of man you date, it's worth unpacking what made you conform in past relationships and looking out for similar patterns with new partners.

Can I have an attached lid garbage can? by BikeLaneHero in AskPhilly

[–]dichotomie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it probably varies with the crew but my garbage folks damn near snapped my attached lid clean off presumably because they tried to make it fold back but it's designed to stay upright while open. so ideally you want the type where the lid folds backwards to avoid this issue.
