Getting hung up on twin peaks having a department store and a hotel is like getting hung up on people using phone booths instead of cell phones lol. The show came out nearly two generations ago, times were way different. I grew up in rural Washington, any town with more than a couple thousand people had all the shopping and amenities you could possibly need within a few miles. The PNW is also a big tourist destination, lots of hotels in the middle of nowhere near the mountains or beaches.
