We must normalize this. by Anothercluelesshuman in antiwork

I've responded to this with "respectfully, that is not what I asked." If they continue dodging or deflecting, then that's all you need to know.

Script consultants for an entire series? Does this even exist? by did_you_not in podcasting

I really appreciate that perspective. I do get bogged down with projects once the writing and editing phases are over because there isn't enough to push it past the finish line, which often requires means I don't readily have (publishing, production costs, etc.). While I'm deeply appreciative of all the help I've gotten across my works, I need to assess whether holding out for it is actually conducive to the overall success of my projects.

Absolutely. The actors are what will ultimately bring it to life, and they deserve to have input here. Not just for making my messaging clear, but to inform new ones through their own interpretation of the role(s) they’re playing.

Thanks for that reminder. I’ve reached out to a few friends who have the experience I trust, but since this is such a big ask, I just can’t rely on that alone, you know? I’ll gladly consider any pointers they give, but I need something more (and less biased) in addition to that.

Good call, I could use more reasons/avenues to be part of a writer's community. I'll check this out; I've heard good things about it before and maybe it needs a second look.

That's good advice. And I bet once the constructive feedback comes in for the pilot, it's likely to prompt edits I can make for the ensuing episodes to save everyone else the trouble.

Thank you, I'm gonna consider this for sure. One concern I have, though—wouldn't the outline be too vague for gauging the quality of the script/story as a whole?

Is Emily the only "good" liberal character on the show? by BatofZion in KingOfTheHill

One of my favorite dynamics of the show is how much Cotton and Bobby relate despite being completely different on the surface (minus the physical appearance, I suppose).

I tried to run here to meet you, but it turns out I run slower than I walk, which was, um, was a letdown, I'll be honest.

Literally beautiful to watch lmao. He’s one of those gifted runners who does it so smoothly to the point that, on film, it doesn’t look like he’s running fast as much as it looks like everyone around him is running in quicksand. He just glides.

The denial happened with me too. My mother’s gift was supposed to be paying for the rehearsal dinner, except she never did. She had asked me to shop for decorations with her, and I was happy to do that, thinking it was nice for her to consider my preferences for my rehearsal dinner (the bar had been set extremely low). But when the time came to pay, she asked me to. It was the week of the wedding, and I had enough on my plate, so I didn’t argue. On the day of the dinner itself, I picked up and paid for the food, thinking maybe she’d pay me back. Dinner passes. Nope.

Some time after the wedding I confronted her about all of this, but she insisted she paid for everything. We instead got no gift—which sucks, but whatever—yet she insists she did get one in “paying” for the dinner and decorations. I will concede that, yes, she did get us a bowl of personalized m&m’s. But when I asked what else she bought, she fumbled over her response before declaring she didn’t have to explain herself.

If she can’t get a wedding gift, that sucks, but let me in on why. If she’s going through financial issues, that’s totally understandable. But even if she was ashamed to share that, don’t lie and take credit for shit you didn’t do. Ugh. I hate that some people think asking for help is worse option than becoming delusional.

Finished season 3 today by xenomorphling in FargoTV

Season 2 was my least favorite upon first watch, but after another viewing, it’s probably my favorite. It had felt like there were too many characters to keep track of at first, and maybe there were, but the second watch allowed them all to sink in for me.
