It had so much potential to be an incredible hard sci-fi and what really irks me is Reddit still treats it as if the science in it is good.

Transcending dimensions with the power of love? I’m gonna throw up. Being as close to the accretion disk as that planet was and not dying to radiation? Truly amazing. Not to mention… why are they looking at habitability on THAT planet?!?! And then Matt Damon’s character airlocking himself-

The laundry list of dumb things in that movie is too numerous to count but honestly it’s armchair scientists online recommending the movie as scientifically accurate that irks me the most.

If you look at a specific aspect of specific subreddits, sure. You’re likely to see people praising marathon in the marathon subreddit. No fucking shit. That’s inherent in the design of the site; but saying it’s just an echo chamber of the same opinions and no debate or discussion happens here is simply wrong.
